Lindy, Why dont you do a computer image of the outside of your home like you can do with digital decorator and play with some schemes. You would instantly know if you like it or not!! Otherwise as Luke suggested, you need to decide if you want to contrast or blend?? I would certainly start off with a blend, as changing it to a deeper colour later would be far easier than trying to go back to a lighter colour if you decide you don't like it. Deep Ocean can look stunning with Jarrah but now that you have Monument I think you really need to stick to Windspray if your window frames are that colour otherwise I feel you will be introducing too many colours and you will spoil the elegant look of the home. FINALLY after too long, have completed one of the upper cedar wall replacements (& the most needed)... still debating colours. Altho I was set on the cedarshield natural cedar oil product, everyone is pushing paint due to longevity... because we missmatched old with new boards on verandah section, don’t think cedarshield would bring out same colour evenly unless a lot of time trying to ‘clean’ the old boards top layer. SO, back to colours. Thoughts? Light and beachy/modern is attractive but don’t think it’d suit the simple timber cottage look it has had for so long. Thinking dark trim with lighter weatherboards?

Paint swatches are your friend here, either sample pots or the A4 size that Dulux introduced. Paint looks different in different lighting and surroundings. Our, barest touch of blue, interior paint, has one wall that throws a bit grey in certain light - the one thing I was trying to avoid - but is perfect everywhere else 🤷🏻‍♀️ . The initial favourite, while the paint chip was very similar seemed over saturated. It’s definitely worth a visit to the paint specialty stores, many have colour consultants, if you’re still undecided. We also found them less expensive, too.

Always pick a lighter shade , let it soak in , maybe repeat . Unless it is very light shades , each coat darkens . Before you get too OCD and panic too , stain fades . Depending on the timbers and the tones they originally started with , over the months and years they will always end up looking different unless you started both with the same stain on the same timber , and even then direct sunlight etc will come into play .
