Bronte House, 2006

Bronte House is a renovation of an existing Californian bungalow, where the original front façade is retained while the rear of the house is demolished and rebuilt to create a more functional family home.

Located on a large corner block, the project reworks the internal layout by positioning bedrooms at the front of the house and introducing an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area to the rear. This new arrangement allows the home to open directly onto the garden, improving both flow and usability for everyday family life.

Jarrah flooring is used throughout, while aluminium sliding doors and windows introduce a more contemporary feel and allow natural light to enter the home. These elements contribute to a clearer connection between interior spaces and the outdoor environment.

The result is a straightforward and effective transformation — maintaining the character of the original house while creating a more open, practical and connected living environment suited to a growing family.
