Paddington terrace, 2003
Paddington Terrace is a renovation of a grand inner-city terrace, combining restoration of the original façade with a contemporary rear extension.
The front of the house was returned to a traditional style, while the new rear addition introduces a more open and spacious living environment. Doors and windows extend across the full width of the rear, connecting the interior directly to the courtyard and improving light and usability throughout the home.
A central internal courtyard plays a key role in the project, allowing natural light and cross ventilation to reach all areas of the house and contributing to a more comfortable and efficient living environment.
Within a constrained site, the rear double garage was designed to serve multiple functions. Through the introduction of a mechanised sliding roof and large pivoting doors, the space can be converted into an outdoor entertaining area, extending the usability of the home beyond its internal footprint.
Delivered through careful planning and building knowledge, the project balances restoration and contemporary intervention — creating a home that is both functional and adaptable while maintaining its original character.
