Clovelly House, 2025

Clovelly House is a considered renovation of an existing beachside home, shaped by the evolving needs of its owners and the constraints of the original structure. The project focuses on improving light, ventilation and spatial clarity, while strengthening the connection between the house and its outdoor environment.

At ground level, the layout was reconfigured to create a cohesive kitchen, living and entertaining space that opens directly onto the garden and swimming pool. Large-format glazing was introduced to bring natural light deep into the plan and enhance airflow, establishing a more open and relaxed living environment suited to its coastal setting.

Targeted upgrades were applied throughout, including the transformation of a previously underperforming granny flat into comfortable, light-filled accommodation for visiting family. Material interventions were restrained and performance-driven, allowing durability and clarity to guide the design rather than visual excess.

Delivered under challenging site conditions — including a steep block and limited access — the project required careful coordination and a disciplined construction approach. Despite these constraints, a high level of craftsmanship was maintained throughout, ensuring a cohesive and resolved outcome.

The result is a calm, functional and light-filled coastal home that supports both everyday family life and entertaining — a measured transformation defined by clarity, performance and connection to place.
