Maroubra House, 2012

Maroubra House is a comprehensive exterior transformation of an existing suburban home, focused on modernising its appearance and improving its presence within the streetscape.

While the interior and rear of the house had been previously renovated, the front remained unresolved. The project addresses this imbalance through a complete reworking of the façade and external areas, replacing outdated architectural elements with a more refined and cohesive expression.

The intervention includes a new roof, rendered façade, concrete driveway, timber boardwalk entry and fully integrated landscaping. Together, these elements redefine the arrival experience and establish a clearer architectural identity for the home.

Material changes were approached with clarity and restraint, allowing proportion, alignment and finish to drive the outcome rather than decorative features. The removal of previous ornamental elements simplifies the architecture, giving the house a more contemporary and resolved character.

Delivered through careful planning and execution, the project demonstrates how targeted external interventions can significantly transform the perception and performance of an existing home.

The result is a cohesive and refreshed residence — one that feels complete, grounded and better aligned with its context.
