Planchonella House took out the top residential honours in 2015 with the Robin Boyd Award for Residential Architecture - Houses (New) at the National Architecture Awards. It also won the top honour in Queensland winning the Robin Dods Award for Residential Architecture - Houses (New) as well as claiming the Australian House of the Year at the 2015 Houses Awards and New House over 200m2 category at the Houses Awards.
The home, designed by Jesse Bennett Architect is set into a hillside in tropical far north Queensland. It embraces experimental passive design methods, blending into the surrounding rainforest.
