First Stop: Find Your Perfect Bed
Nothing is going to induce more sleep than the perfect bed that ticks all your boxes for size and comfort, but it’s vitally important to try before you buy as there are many different styles.
The key to finding the perfect mattress is to choose one that offers you the right balance of support and bounce, as well as breathable materials that help to regulate body temperature. It’s also worth considering a mattress that’s good for the environment as well as your own health, by choosing vegan designs that are made from sustainable textiles and certified low in VOCs.
Your bed is the design centrepiece. The look of your bed is just as important as its level of comfort for creating a great sleep-enticing environment. The natural warmth of wood is ideal in the bedroom setting for evoking a relaxing ambience that’s calm and restful, while a practical bed design with hidden storage will encourage an easy-living, orderly vibe.

Create an Easy-to-Navigate Layout
Getting the layout right is key to achieving the ultimate sense of calm in your bedroom. Position your bed against a solid wall to anchor the sleeping spot and maximise the sense of flow in the room by picking furniture with legs or floating edges that will expand the floor space underneath.
It’s also a good idea to remove any chaos and clutter from the room by choosing beds and furniture that feature cleverly concealed storage areas. You can then hide away extra bedding or unsightly cables so your space stays a haven of serenity.
Pick designs that encourage airflow. A bed base that features a timber platform with integrated ventilation holes will ensure your mattress is continually aired and your sleep environment stays naturally cool and heated with un-interrupted airflow.

Introduce Hotel-Inspired Comforts
If you’ve ever experienced a blissful night’s sleep in a luxurious hotel, then the statement bed and comfy mattress will most certainly have been complemented by super-soft bed linen to snuggle up in.
To recreate this opulent sleep space, look out for pillows that cater for all sleeping styles thanks to a flippable design, which offers a high profile on one side and low profile on the other.
The texture of your bedding should also be conducive to a good night’s sleep, so choose a super soft, hypoallergenic textile, like Eucalyptus fibre, which is a great regulator of temperature and free from harmful chemicals.
Add layers for luxury and comfort. Deluxe hotel rooms are often loaded with tactile textures for comfort, so try and capture a similar look with layers of soothing bedding, draped throws and statement cushions, and you too will be able to retreat to an opulent boudoir of luxury.

Say No to Tech
To retain a constant sense of peace and quiet in your bedroom, banish in-your-face technology, such as TVs or charging devices, and instead, set up concealed charging points behind bedsides or under beds so devices don’t disturb the ambience.
It’s also worth avoiding bright screens directly before bedtime as the harsh light of smart phones or tablets can stimulate rather than slow you down.
Get the lighting just right. Just as we said about creating layers of textures, layering your bedroom lighting will create ambience and comfort. Combine table lamps with wall lights instead of harsh overhead designs, and ensure they are all dimmable so you can create atmosphere with low-level illumination.

Anyone used one of these? I am inetrested in trying out a king size.
My bed is high off the floor. I never store anything underneath. I have a wool filled doona and flannelette sheets. SO comfy. I keep a samsung tablet for meditation purposes in my bedside drawer. There isn't big bright windows in there. I keep it clean and tidy. My sanctuary.
Yep, we have two Koala beds and we'll get a third for our guest room. I've always loved futons but never found the right one for me. So happy Koala brought out this base - love it! The assembly is easy and the wood is nice. A healthy, toxin-free bedroom is essential for me.
