While we appreciate every client’s feedback, we feel the need to respond to this as it does not accurately reflect the situation. Firstly, this contact (who we never built for as a client) was referred to us through an extremely satisfied past client of ours who had bought one of the widest blocks on their street & required a custom design to take advantage of this feature. To which we delivered with exceptional reviews & feedback from them on all aspects of the design & build experience. Therefore, it is rather strange she wants to paint a picture that this is not our skillset just because her requirements & expectations were not in alignment. On several occasions Theresa was highly confused & indecisive on several aspects of the design process that was explained & presented to her in much detail with an abnormally high amount of time given to her to understand things. Thus, we strongly reject her unqualified judgement on what we can & can’t do this is a false representation of our expertise, experience & capabilities.

She often complained that she can’t visualise the design & needs time to process to which we were very patient & understanding with her. The final conversation was extremely respectful, so much so that we wished each other well & we gave them our best wishes for them to move forward with their future endeavours & they responded on the same note, so it is very confusing to see that their view of this last interaction has suddenly changed. They were constantly confused on what they want Vs what they can achieve. During this call whenever Theresa was presented a different point of view from what she believes is right & on hearing this she would threaten to cut the call & write a bad review, this was her intention it seems from the get go.

In a penultimate call Theresa specifically was given an opportunity to give her full feedback & discuss things openly to which she was fully herd out so that solutions can be found to meet her expectations & she concluded the call by saying that she is still proceeding forward with us for the build & ‘nothing changes’ she is still happy to keep moving ahead. Yet again displaying a constantly changing messaging to us.

Theresa was given every opportunity to provide input into the design & was followed up on several occasions to ask regarding her feedback. They were given the chance in a very transparent way to directly meet with, interact & communicate with the designer. The designer we went ahead with was pre-approved by her before the process began & she knew exactly who we would be using & was happy to do so as she had some prior interaction with the same designer as well. She also provided her brief in writing of which the first version did not mention a few things such as the wider design requirement, we then accommodated her by further revising the design when she changed & updated her brief to ask for a wider design after our first design was presented to her based on her incorrect brief. In our view they had unreasonable expectations & we never encouraged leaving the house footprint larger but just highlighted potential issues that could occur with their requirements if the size was decreased.

Finally, it seems quite a conflict of interest that she claims to have paid people who were engaged by her to basically side & agree with her viewpoint so she can validate her negative view of the design & malign us. We were never provided with any of this feedback & would’ve been happy to understand genuine inputs to refine the layout. A design can be undertaken in many different ways but just because something doesn’t work for her or she is confused about what does & doesn’t, it does not mean it is wrong as we have said several times we are happy to take on board constructive criticism, but at the same time we can’t be tainted with a false judgement by someone who is clearly not an expert in this field & is highly biased to her point of view.
