Carland Constructions is a certified Passive House builder working across inner Melbourne. We do new builds and EnerPHit retrofits to the most rigorous building performance standard there is, the certified, tested and measured version, not a marketing version of it. The proof is in the numbers. We have five certified Passive House projects on the ground. Our Pigeon Passive House in Yarraville reached 0.26 air changes per hour on the blower door test, one of the tightest results ever recorded in Australia, where the Passive House standard asks for 0.6 or under. Our Rifle Range project in Williamstown is one of the first volume built Australian homes brought up to certified EnerPHit standard. The way we work is different too. We join your project early, alongside your architect, while the design is still on paper. That is when honest costings protect your budget, and when the building science gets designed in properly instead of bolted on later. Every home we build is airtightness tested and thermally modelled before a brick is laid. We build for a hundred years, not for the minimum on the permit. Behind it is Matt Carland. Before building, Matt studied science and nutrition, which is where the obsession with clean air, comfort and health started. He got his builder's licence in 2017, trained as a Passive House tradesperson in 2019, and stopped doing standard builds the same year.
