Dovetail Design Group provides friendly interior design advice and guidance to turn your dreams into reality. We understand that the design process can be daunting and stressful and that sometimes clients just need someone to make sense of the priorities, extract their thoughts and ideas, and give them confidence in their choices. My business partner and I consulted Kay when renovating our photography studio kitchen, as food photographers it was essential that we got it right. Kay understood our needs and whilst we knew what we wanted she was amazing in being able to visualise this for us, work through the detail and recommend suppliers. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for some experienced advice in any area of residential design.

I have worked with Dovetail on several medium sized commercial projects over the past few years, one of which was the Potentia Learning centre in Parramatta. As project manager for a demanding client it was my job to ensure the project was designed and delivered on time and on budget. Kay and the Dovetail team were brilliant to deal with, from their creative design through to producing detailed drawings for tender and responding promptly during construction to any RFIs. Kay was accommodating when changes had to be made, quickly offering alternative finishes and collaborating with the site foreman. Kay is a natural collaborator and has no pretentious designer ‘ego’ which made the whole process so much easier. The end result was fantastic and I would definitely recommend Dovetail to anyone looking for a quality design company.

We used Dovetail Design to assist with the renovation of the entire bottom level of our house which involved a new kitchen, bathroom and updates to all our living areas. Selena and Kay’s experience and expertise in design were invaluable. They were extremely helpful assisting us to make key decision as well as providing us with wonderful ideas which added great design and practicality to the end result. Selena and Kay were always professional, helpful and responsive to any questions we had and navigated us through our moments of indecision when overwhelmed by all the options available and choices to be made. I reached out to Kay during my recent kitchen renovation. As a graphic designer and experienced home renovator I had a pretty clear idea of what I wanted and had already had initial plans drawn up. However my wife is more concerned with functionality than aesthetics so I really needed a sounding board to run through all the details prior to committing to the substantial outlay. Kay was the perfect choice to give me the reassurance that I needed. She actively listened to my thoughts and gave me sound and down to earth advice on lighting, materials, paint colours. She also gave me some useful tips and access to her studio resource library. Her design sense is contemporary and on trend. My wife and I thought we had considered all options before engaging with Kay, but she managed to create several other layouts we never dreamed possible. We consulted Kay when we were looking to renovate and update the rear part of our house. Our builder had suggested a possible layout option, however we needed additional help visualising the space to ensure that this would work for us. Being an old Californian bungalow, with smaller, awkward spaces, we needed a cost-effective update, with a new layout, that would enhance our living environment, without breaking the bank. Right from the start Kay totally understood what we were hoping for and encouraged us to explore an alternative option that we would perhaps never have considered, had it not been suggested. She presented us with a new layout, with 3D views, so that we could really appreciate the extra value that could be unlocked and the improved functionality that could be achieved, all within our budget. We're so pleased we took the time to meet with Kay to explore the possibilities, as it’s now given us the confidence and inspiration to move forward with the project. If you're looking at renovating, we cannot recommend Kay highly enough. Thanks Kay and the Dovetail team.

Apical Building Services

As a Builder we were contracted to carry out a residential project Designed by Kay from the Dovetail Group. The design was a contemporary residential house with a polished slab on ground, steel portal frame, and over sized steel window's. The Dovetails group brief was to project manage both the design, and build period which were achieved to the clients requirements I found Kay to be approachable, easy to work with, and also resolved with efficiency any site issues that occurred.
