Gary Winter Landscape Design

We are delighted with the garden at our holiday house in Chewton that Gary and his team have created for us. We live in Melbourne so we were looking for a low maintenance but interesting garden to compliment our miner's cottage . Initially we had concerns that our overgrown garden would appear lacklustre and empty if we started again as it has been established over a very long time. Gary had great vision and so much enthusiasm and has planted a wonderful garden suited to the harsh climate and complimenting our cottage and location . We were always able to contact him and meet him on site and his reliability has been exceptional. Gary always listened to our ideas, concerns, requests and make us feel very confident and happy with the outcomes. Gary designed the landscaping for our home in Bendigo. We had an unusual quirky shaped home and consequently, we engaged Gary to design it for us. From the outset, Gary was clear and professional as to his fee structure and the differing levels of service he can offer. The ongoing consultative process whereby Gary sought to understand what we wanted was excellent. A few design iterations later and we now have a plan that we are very happy with. We are yet to engage a landscaper to tackle the whole project. But the plans are still very useful as it helps us plan which small parts we might be able to do soon and which parts we delay for a future construction. I'd highly recommend Gary's design services.

We engaged Gary to help us visualise and plan to complete the landscaping within the building envelop on a large bush block in Victoria. Gary was fantastic at every level from initial contact, to meeting us on site, dealing with some of the specific requirements we needed and coming up with some really creative solutions to help us create a beautiful space. Gary provided exceptional customer service and was very responsive in providing both the initial concept and final plans and assisting us to work through any issues. He has a great ability to visualise on a blank canvas and we are excited to put his vision for our garden into action. We look forward to implementing and completing the project during 2022.

I engaged Gary Winter to develop our landscape plan for our Hepburn township block following some sad, but necessary clearing of the block to reduce the bushfire attack rating. I met with him on-site and after walking around the 3800 square metre block it became apparent that Gary had some great ideas and that he was willing to listen to my ideas and expand upon them. Gary was an excellent communicator and extremely timely in his advice and emailing drafts of the design and planting schedule for me to look through and provide feedback. Not living in the region, it was great for me to know that Gary was investing the time into reading my feedback and looking at the fire rating building requirements together with the geography, building drawings, using the stone and wood we will be retaining on-site and the native plant and productive garden zones I wanted to incorporate into the design. Having Gary on board during from the early stages of the home's Architectural design program proved to be immensely valuable. The collaborative effort between Gary and the architect yielded a more considered and impactful design- both in the home and its landscaping. Gary's expertise in landscape construction meant that he could provide advice and insight into the more technical aspects of his design. As a builder, it was a pleasure being able to consult Gary at key stages of the building process to collaboratively work through any issues or challenges.

Gary has been a solid partner of ours during a complex and long landscaping project, involving lots of different stakeholders. He proved to be very reliable and trustworthy with a true sense of ownership of the project. His communication and management of the project was also very thorough. Despite the challenges the project through at us, Gary helped us to achieve our end vision, of a family friendly and low maintenance garden, and for that we are very grateful.

We employed Gary to undertake a landscape design following a knock down rebuild, and later the supply and install of plants. Gary was incredible responsive throughout the project and provided exceptional advice and timely service. We were delayed by several levels of approval and Gary was always willing to work through any issues presented with the regulatory agency. Gary was able to work well with other contractors and recommend third party contractors, who also provided great service. We are incredibly happy with the final project and are already beginning to enjoy our fantastic outdoor entertaining area.

Gary has assisted us on numerous projects at our recently renovated inner suburban Victorian period house. In doing so he proved to be agile, knowledgeable and reliable, a true professional and 'safe pair of hands'.
