There will have to be cost if you want to make it yours while you're there. I suggest hanging a lightweight sheer fabric around the room, maybe something grey on curtain wire, which you only need to install sticky back clip hooks to each corner, possibly one each middle. Just under the cornice.
I would give it a go to ask to owner if you could paint the room a neutral, t your cost, so you are happy for about 50.00 and with colour approval so would there owner.
Worth asking.

No problem, just wondered why your comment was different to mine, we both had the same in mind.

I understand that pink (by the way - what kind of pink?) and white is quite girly from a certain point of view - so if your landlord won't give you permission to paint the room with a more suitable color, I would play with some other color for the furniture, linen and artwork on the walls. In fact some sort of pink can be an amazing background color and looks nice with black or blue.

I actually think pink is the worst colour there is, and I'm a girl! So I would hate to wonder what you think about pink.

Failing your landlord approving a quick coat of paint (probably two or three coats, actually), add lots of neutrals and dark brown furniture, like Poochella suggested. Some big prints will look good and cover up some of the pink, too. Something like this:

The pink "male",2013 New Southern Home suggestion is better. Make one feature wall pink and see Parade 2012-Hacienda suggestions as well, if your landlord allows U 2 paint it in pink, I have seen it all in pink incl. carpets and it did not grow on me,good luck

I'm sorry but pink is just wrong on so many levels for a bloke.
I agree with the other posts about asking the landlord if you can paint the room.
I hazzard a guess that you have luckilly aquired this rental, because all the other blokes have had one look and said naaahhhh!!!
It wouldn't matter how many "manly" items of furniture you put in the unit that could make a bloke feel, well blokey!!!
As suggested, paint isn't particularly expensive, just a bit of a time issue to do but I'm sure you would feel much better with blue or black or even white!!!
The saving grace is that it's only the bedroom and perhaps you could take some inspiration from the colours in the other rooms in the house, the lounge for example??

If painting isn't an option and you are a bit handy, consider the suggestion from mldesign0401 above about the curtain idea. If you hang the hardware from the ceiling, which hopefully is white, it would be a cinch when you leave to fill in and dot paint over any holes you may have made. Ikea do two ranges of curtain hardware systems that are suitable for hanging from a ceiling and they have a decent range of sheer curtains you could hang to cover up the walls. That way you also get to keep the curtains for your next apartment too.

Hang fabric from the walls, such as king size sheets. Push pins up high will secure them. Use as sheets at a subsequent property.

very sorry to hear this. I sympathise. lol I too, am a girl who dislikes that colour. I agree with the above posters: either paint or removable wallpaper. you may be able to, but I have no idea how to blend in pink!

Barbara, I'M sorry - but it is just so wrong on so many more levels to think that pink is wrong just for 'blokes'. Colour-coding based on sex is wrong - period. Pink is OK for the (very) few who like it - and pretty much anathema to everyone else.

I actually like pink on a bloke, my brother wears a pink shirt and it looks good on him and I too wear pink but I was really referring to the dillema that the author seemed to be in disliking the colour!!

Theres not that much wrong with pink, I'd be more worried about a white carpet! and all the muck of living.....let me join every one else, ask your landlord if you can have a colour change, offer to pay for the paint and do the job (high standard please) but see if he will change the carpet for you, well done in light neutrals you are adding value and ease of next let! stress the positives to him, if he won't play, and you can afford it grey is good see if you can put down some rugs and hang some wall art, tie in curtains lamp shades and bedding, add mirrors you can frame them yourself, colour tone..............and you can do a bit at a time as you can afford remember you can take it with you so choose stuff you like! good luck!

There are pinks, and there are pinks. And that one is plain poxy, whoever you are. My 4 year old daughter agrees. It's also hard to sleep well with such a bright colour. Keep in mind that you'll need 2-3 coats of good quality paint to erase that colour, so removable wallpaper might start to look like a good option. Cheers

NO, NO, NO, go for a colour change, landlord and if all else fails take it to referendum, i'm Irish & guys today are suffering an identity crisis lets not do the colour thing. I rest my case. O.K. false walls maybe (sorry).

Blokes should not have pink rooms.

A really old post... but I say rock it with some bold charcoal sheets and curtains... and some heavy wooden furniture in dark stains. Just remember... most "hetro" bedrooms eventually have both male and female elements. So look to master bedrooms for couples and just try and balance and tone down the colour so its not so full on.

No One! Not even us girls, want an entirely whole room in pink! Paint is cheap! Buy dark paint which would be more likely to cover the pink in less coats than a pale colour. If I were u, I'd choose a dark grey or blue. Problem solved in a few hours! And much quicker solution than fiddling round with fabric/curtaining and a lot of dark furniture, which would still be in a pink room!
