Comments (129)I am getting really ambitious...going out to pick some rhubarb so I can make a strawberry rhubarb pie. The new house has a strawberry bed and today's haul was enough to add to some rhubarb. The only problem is my hubby will probably make the filling as he doesn't like to add any sugar at all...I like tart, but I think it tastes best with a small amount of sugar to bring out the flavor. He really likes to cook and I don't, although I would do more baking but as soon as I get the ingredients out and the rhubarb cut up, he'll be there to take over. Note - I am not going too crazy...the toughest thing about this crust is unrolling it from the package!...See MoreOozy yellow globs in my garden
Comments (14)Gudday Luke, I think all fungi are totally cool. You would be surprised how many of our Australian fungi haven't been named let alone studied. They look like a variety of puffball. Are the grey ones more mature or juvenile? Anyway just enjoy their kookiness. You are providing an environment that they enjoy. All our natives support another batch of natives and are supported by yet another batch of natives. It's not a bad thing. Run with it!! :-)...See MoreFIREPLACE HELP!!
Comments (40)You could have an awsome Halloween party with that fireplace, especially if you add the light fitting & table! If that doesn't appeal my advice is to first off get out the sage smudge sticks. :- )...See MoreYay or Nay: Celebrate Halloween in Australia?
Comments (9)Oh my goodness. I have had the same dilemma and have changed things around but still the bathroom is at the back. You have one metre more than me in width so much more flexibility. I had a DA approved to go up...but I would only gain 1 bedroom and lose the bedroom to a bathroom downstairs on the plans. If this is a semi (which I suspect it is as I live one suburb away) then you don't want to overcapitalise. I gave up on the upstairs Reno @$250k plus and the realisation that my kid is now 18 and I would rather save for the future. If this were my place...I would turn the laundry and bath at the back into a galley kitchen. This may mean converting a lean too into a functional space but will be worthwhile. Move the bath to where the kitchen was or in the middle of the house. This could be stunning and simple to do. One last tip...the plumbing in these places is ancient, so if you want to make changes or build or concrete over pipes at the back, budget approx 5k to have the sewer and stormwater lines completely redone. You will never have to worry about issues again. I had a cracked pipe which was cracked for 50 years. Let me know if you need more info. Good luck!...See More- 11 years ago
