Either material can be made to look and feel beautiful, but the photos show the worst of both. I love baltic birch plywood with exposed edges, but it must be sanded smooth and clear-coated with a satin finish lacquer or urethane. Concrete (my passion and my business) can be tinted to give it a warmer shade, and either cast against a super-smooth surface or polished to make it smooth. Bedroom walls need to look and be touchable. The ones in the photos give me the shivers.

Dear Marisa, Sorry to break the news to you, but your room is a "train wreck". Just TOO Many competing elements in this room. The last thing that this room needs is "Wall-Art"! This is a BEDROOM and a place that should be restful. All the elements in the room make for a vision of chaos. Firstly, move the TV opposite the bed. If you have room, house your TV, your music system and Apple TV box in the one area . Paint the unit the same colour as the walls. TV housed behind a door would be good. Blue and green or aqua and turquoise are shades are all serene colours, for walls and furniture both. All photos and mementos can be put in an album, thus clearing surfaces and resulting in a memory book to peruse at leisure. If you are a child of 8 to 9, the dolls, toys, cushion and a disney picture above the bed are okay, but not for a teenager or adult. Why do you need the refrigerator? Is it because you cannot eat and drink elsewhere? Best sleep comes when in a dedicated room. Separate eating, drinking, computer and TV from sleeping if at all possible. If, however, this room is a bed-sit, then you are stuck with multiple uses for this room. But I notice that there is no dedicated study/desk area. If you moved the white cupboard covered in unnecessary photographs, there would be space for a small bedside table with a reading lamp. Reading a book, for pleasure, before sleep, is conducive to good restorative sleep. My advice is, ditch the disney paraphernalia, put the caps in a drawer and generally de-clutter (surely you do not need toothpicks in your bedroom?) I suggest that you study photos of ELEGANT bedrooms - not fluro adolescent fantisies but classic, serene examples. Photos on Houzz are good, as are, photos on Etsy and Pinterest. Type in a query on Google images e.g. aqua bedroom images. Keep an open mind when looking. Consider painting the whole room. Consider placing pillows the whole width of the bed head, with pillowcases in shades of one colour. Behind the bed, install a curtain rail with a generous curtain of beautiful fabric ( check out fabric remnants online, especially in USA or visit Burnt Street, Seaforth fabrics in Sydney. You can often pick up expensive, beautiful fabrics at a fraction of the retail cost. Get ideas from Elle decor magazine, Architectural Digest and Verandah magazines online. my suggestion has an ens and wiw and uses the old bedroom door for a linen cupboard, although the toilet could be placed at either end to be closer to the original sewerage, this arrangement allows for more privacy for the toilet, more standing room near the shower, wall space for a towel rail and room in teh wiw for a chest of drawers..the vanity is over 2m long with cabinet under the (one or twin) sinks and open shelves next to the toilet for towels .. and, while you're adding the new ens, it would be worthwhile to plan the new access to the kitchen and new laundry

Such a lovely room, add beautiful lamps, you could add a mirror behind one (or both) bedside tables, this will detract from the a/c, luxury bed linen will give a beautiful look, currently neutrals give a beautiful serene look, a rug under the bed, a beautiful chaise or a small sofa would look stunning, and artwork that you love could create a gorgeous bedroom.
