What gadget or feature is your kitchen missing most?

Every kitchen is lacking something. maybe you've always dreamed of a bigger oven, a double fridge or a chandelier rangehood?

Think of the one thing that you would like to add to your kitchen in 2016 — it could be totally achievable or just a dream, a nifty gadget or a sparkly new appliance you've always wanted.

Here are a few surprising appliances and gadgets I've come across...

The chandelier rangehood, instant sushi roller, a transparent toaster and a corn kerneler.

I'm taking my bed out of my double bedroom to change into a library, otherwise I would say library. But, for me, it's down to basics: I need a kitchen and laundry! My house was a holiday cottage and to call the kitchen corner a kitchen is a far cry from the reality. I can't even stretch my arms out yet I have to cram my washing machine in there, too. Help!

Like many people these days, we are a gadget family. They would have a lot more use if they were lined up behind the workbench attached to electrical outlets. The chore of getting them out of drawers and setting them up to use is definitely one of my least favourite tasks in the kitchen. We're now thinking of having the upstand part of the wall overlooking the family room removed and extending the depth of the benchtop to have them all lined up ready to use every day. Now our only problem is finding someone to do this work. Most kitchen companies want to only do the whole kitchen, and aren't interested in anything less, so make their quotes far too high for the work we need done, and even suggest that we replace the whole kitchen which is only 3 years old.

Hi Sally, not sure where/how to message you other than here. LOVE your house! It is going to be beautiful! - Looks very much like you are going to have to do the same sorts of things that we have too. ( BTDT with the lifted floorboards and view to the ground!) Is your house on sandstone piers too? In our case we did not have to do anything with the internal piers but we did need to lift one side of the house by about 20 cm. We haven't had to remove all our wall cladding as you have done. And we were lucky - the only remnant of lathe and plaster was a small part of the hall. And we are lucky with the ceilings too We haven't had to take them our as you have. And as they are so high we can plaster over where we need to repair - even in the hall where the fist sized crack in the ceiling has closed as we hoped it would. Your boards look magnificent - will you be able to relay them once the restumping is done? I would imagine that they would be hard to replace. Your place is the total opposite of ours though for all that they areboth old country homes. Ours is a cool climate house - located in the Huon Valley (Tasmania) - and big - 24 squares (with an additional 6 squares in deck). Not sure off-hand how big our block is, - but certainly not 1.25 acres! Large block by today's standards though. Tucked into the back of the block since it was originally part of the larger church grounds. So, as is unusual for a house of it's type, the front yard is much larger than the back. There are other similarities between us it seems. (It is just us at home too ...though in our case the pet is a rather senile feline! ...and as to how we came to be restoring the largest house that either of us have ever lived in at a time in our lives when most are downsizing, - well that is another story!) Our latest project is the repair of the bay window in the lounge...(when I say 'we are doing this' - I actually mean that HE is doing it, and I am providing help in the form of lots of encouragement! Must get my act together and post some of our pics. Will you keep putting yours up? I would love to see what you do with your house.

I have a small fridge space, and a large family - a bad combination! I would love a bigger fridge space , and maybe even....shock, horror.....my freezer in my kitchen, rather than my laundry!

If it makes you feel better tele my microwave is in the study (just around the corner). Due to lack of bench space I had to choose between coffee machine or microwave on the bench, no competition!

I need a good looking bookstand for my cookbook. I can't cook (without my Thermomix), but my kitchen can look the part, at least.

I think the only thing missing in our kitchen is the thermomix.

Second option would be just bringing the hose in.

What state are you in olldroo? We are in Queensland & today feels about 10 degrees cooler than yesterday's 32 & it's overcast. Hoping for rain or we will have to water the garden again before the next heat wave.

Mine is a feature (that's in the planning stage) - I would love a pantry rather than the base cabinet in our u-shaped teeny kitchen where all the space is in the corners and that you need to be an anorexic contortionist to get into.

We have many legends aka JT (Johnathan Thurston) & Cowboys were NRL champions to boot!!!

I have recently started a small catering business from home, and I’m dreaming about having combi oven https://www.cateringwholesalers.com/cooking-equipment/combi-steam-ovens.html. I love them because they can replace multiple appliances and save money and time that way.
