Picture height?

My new piece of art is 1250mmx1250mm and will be hung above our new bed head (1300mm tall) on a wall that is 3250mm up to the picture rail. At what height should it be hung?

Comments (9)Looking at adding something like this onto of the wall. Perhaps increasing the balustrades and incorporating the timber or aluminium slats with a new electric gate. So still has some level of privacy with some plants on the footpath side. Comments (17)Thanks everyone, I'm agreeing with all you have said. The ceiling probably looks gloss but is actually a matt finish. I am thinking of changing at least one of the windows to be doors to the deck, and having oversized curtains from ceiling to floor. I totally agree with the comment re the fireplace, and that weird angled exhaust! not sure what I can do with that - thats another project! I'm thinking if I have a large picture on the far wall, it will draw the room in hopefully, and defining the dining and living spaces separately with floor rugs should break the horizontal line of the floor. I'm also thinking if i paint the window frames a darker colour that will create some vertical lines to give some height?...See MoreCeiling height - raising house
Comments (4)What height window and doors are you proposing. If 3 metre ceilings then 2400 doors and windows would look better. This will then add extra cost for window treatments. Also in the kitchen, with a 3 metre ceiling, where would you stop your overhead cabinets, would you have them to the ceiling? Or standard height? I personally would do your pitched ceiling in living area, and 2700mm everywhere else. This will add extra interest with the change of ceiling height. 2700mm are a good height....See More

My personal preference would be to purchase a longer piece of artwork for above the bedhead and to hang your present art so that you can see it when you are in bed. May I suggest my painting for above the bed. It will show that you have a sense of humour and it will fit your decor.
