It's a tough question that you pose and one we get asked on a daily basis. If you're simply after a flat door (no profile shaping on the front) then you really can't go past laminate. The machine technology available these days is very good, in fact we have recently purchased one of the best edging machines in the industry and will start using it in the next few weeks. It uses a laser to seal the edges so that you almost can't see the glue line at all! This machine is new to the industry and we will be one of the first companies in Victoria to get one. Samples aren't available yet but our showrooms are otherwise well equipped to show different finishes. I would avoid gloss and matt if you're worried about scratches and showing up finger marks. A semi-gloss (for example Laminex Silk finish) is a great in between finish that is very user friendly. All the best!

I always like a window that comes close to the floor. Can you do hardwood instead of carpeting? The carpets you are looking at strike me as less easy to keep clean. They aren't a flat surface so that dirt may get trapped?

Hi Emma X - they’re Dunlop Heartridge Sahara Dune. We have them laid through our house on both stumps and a slab in the new build. They feel great underfoot and are very easy to clean and maintain (so far)! A friend of mine who lives in QLD chose them for her new build, and I fell in love with them when I saw them in her professional builders photos. I did not see them ‘in the flesh’ before committing to them, but have been 100% happy with them in our house. I’m biased. But 2 pack by far. If it is applied correctly. There are quite a lot of cowboys in the industry out there just cutting corners to make a better margin. Choice of colours unlimited. Up to 5 gloss levels. And down the track a fresh up or change of colour if you wish. 2nd choice, Melamine. Some great colours available as well as textures and finishes. Now Acrylic. Mmm, where to start. Yes it does discolour. Theoretically clear acrylic should be colour fast and maintain water clarity. However given the fact this is a co extruded product, not a lot of thought was put into how UV stable the ABS was. The ABS, is what gives us the colour. More of an issue with the light colours as opposed to the dark and wood grains. Then there’s the edge tape. But I’ll give it rest now. As for Glad Wrap.?. But that’s just my opinion.
