Hi Louise - thank you for getting back - a little hard to explain but ill try my best - by the arm I mean like an extended pole that would go from the wall light (that would sit on the wall - would be longer - sort of like a stem coming down from the light what ive seen so far is mainly decorative im thinking) but maybe where a cord could be hidden therefore no hard wiring required - basically I don't want the cord to the plug in to be seen as the wall is bare). Blinds are great where you have furniture up against windows. I would go white daylight and charcoal or navy for night. I would also consider curtains across the door. Otherwise split the blind into two for easier access to the door. If you go curtain there you could still have a daylight blind on each side if needed. What is your ceiling height for light fitting!

The only part that possibly should have been accented is the verandah section. Start by giving it all and undercoat to cover the maroon. I’d paint it all a white that is right tone for your blue roof, maybe white on white and then accent the porch in a darker shade like Dulux linen white Do you know what the blue actually is?

I agree with Jan -- a lot is personal , and your lifestyles . You say neutral colours , so a wheat type colour for the carpet is a good middle of the road choice , but maybe not practical with kids who like crayons and facepainting and stripping down motorbikes haha . So in that case , maybe a burgundy or mid blue or similar 'solid' colour may suit better ( burgundy may tie in more with the exterior tones ) , but is still sort of neutral , but what about furniture and linen and artwork -- if you have royal blue or fluro green drawers and a brown chair and sunshine yellow duvet/dooner cover , and the room is for someone older than 4 , then burgundy carpet mightn't be the go haha . The existing wall colour works with most things , you can add artwork or posters or sports or academic certificates -- maybe back to front , but I'd sort out everything else ( carpet , furniture , etc ) before deciding on a wall colour , unless sticking to the existing or similar colour .
