Artwork/wall decor for my guest bedroom
Comments (38)Hi, Love the artwork. Because they're so small, how about putting them vertically, side by side on the wall where the bookcase is. I'd either take out the bookcase, or paint it white. If space is an issue in the room, you could maybe replace the bookcase with a small ottoman/ pouf in a textured plain fabric. This gives guests a place to lay their clothes at night or to set an overnight bag. You could consider a LARGE, maybe hectagonal grey framed mirror over the bed to echo the lines in the bedding. The bedding has a lot of pattern and a mirror may be all you need. Most of all, don't rush. Take your time and enjoy the process....See MoreDoes painting internal walls add value to house?
Comments (24)Consult your agent as to whether the market warrants the spend. If you're doing just one thing, paint is better value. We spent ages cleaning marks off walls when we sold our last house and would have been better off just paying someone to paint the whole house (faster sale=more money). Re carpet, many people want floorboards or tiles now, therefore not worth replacing. Our current house was bought for a good price in a hot market, partly because the carpet had dog smell and some feature wall colours put off many people. We replaced with floating bamboo floorboards and painted the whole house off-white before moving in. Instant transformation....See MoreWall color to make picture 'pop'
Comments (26)Okay, firstly, this is very difficult to do without seeing the room in person. So rather than suggesting a colour, let me tell you some theory and hopefully you can work it out. The painting looks a little yellow on my screen, I think it would look different in person. You want the image to stand out. What you're looking for is contrast between the image and your surroundings. Contrast can give seperation between elements and that's what you're after, the wall to receed behind the painting. white is not cutting it because it's competing with the image. The image has some light bright tones ie it's bright and the white wall will be bright, so a while wall and the painting will both compete for your attention. the other problem you have is all of the other elements in the room are darker and warm timber, we notice warm colours before cooler colours (ie blues) first, so it's likely all of thu sis competing against each other. So to not compete with everything else, you want something cooler but also not saturated (without a lot of colour). You want people to forget about the wall. again it's very difficult without seeing the room, so any colour I give you is not going to work. Get a few swatches from Bunnings and take them home and hold them next to the picture in the room. Narrow it down the 3 paints then get a small canvas, Bunnings is cheap, paint that with your colours and rest them on the wall with the painting. Move the canvas around the wall. Good luck. Colour is difficult but just try and get something that doesn't compete with the painting....See MoreCourtyard brick wall painting
Comments (10)sadly it appears she has. It sounds just perfect you both have great style, perhaps a slightly darker shade for the wall. Do the pot, I would also plant close up to the fence on Council land. We did a property on a corner which had a large council area. we did brush fencing and they told us we had to do plantings in front of it to soften the look. NATURAL BRUSH fencing, go figure. Can't wait to see your out door kitchen as well x...See More- 10 years ago
