I need a Wall Art in my bedroom
Comments (13)Dear Marisa, Sorry to break the news to you, but your room is a "train wreck". Just TOO Many competing elements in this room. The last thing that this room needs is "Wall-Art"! This is a BEDROOM and a place that should be restful. All the elements in the room make for a vision of chaos. Firstly, move the TV opposite the bed. If you have room, house your TV, your music system and Apple TV box in the one area . Paint the unit the same colour as the walls. TV housed behind a door would be good. Blue and green or aqua and turquoise are shades are all serene colours, for walls and furniture both. All photos and mementos can be put in an album, thus clearing surfaces and resulting in a memory book to peruse at leisure. If you are a child of 8 to 9, the dolls, toys, cushion and a disney picture above the bed are okay, but not for a teenager or adult. Why do you need the refrigerator? Is it because you cannot eat and drink elsewhere? Best sleep comes when in a dedicated room. Separate eating, drinking, computer and TV from sleeping if at all possible. If, however, this room is a bed-sit, then you are stuck with multiple uses for this room. But I notice that there is no dedicated study/desk area. If you moved the white cupboard covered in unnecessary photographs, there would be space for a small bedside table with a reading lamp. Reading a book, for pleasure, before sleep, is conducive to good restorative sleep. My advice is, ditch the disney paraphernalia, put the caps in a drawer and generally de-clutter (surely you do not need toothpicks in your bedroom?) I suggest that you study photos of ELEGANT bedrooms - not fluro adolescent fantisies but classic, serene examples. Photos on Houzz are good, as are, photos on Etsy and Pinterest. Type in a query on Google images e.g. aqua bedroom images. Keep an open mind when looking. Consider painting the whole room. Consider placing pillows the whole width of the bed head, with pillowcases in shades of one colour. Behind the bed, install a curtain rail with a generous curtain of beautiful fabric ( check out fabric remnants online, especially in USA or visit Burnt Street, Seaforth fabrics in Sydney. You can often pick up expensive, beautiful fabrics at a fraction of the retail cost. Get ideas from Elle decor magazine, Architectural Digest and Verandah magazines online. Good luck with it and I look forward to hearing about your decisions and educational journey about interior decoration....See MoreBedroom artwork – yay or nay?
Comments (59)Hello everyone! It's been a while. Thank you all for the overwhelming response. Just thought I'd better update you all on changes I've made. And yes, got rid of those horrible lamps (what was I ever thinking when I bought them???). So I know the new lamps aren't still tall enough but they were all I could afford. I think they look nice. Wrt the artwork, decided to hang up a triptych of my eldest daughter artwork which I love. Now I know what you will all say: "those frames are way too small". So my next little project is to find larger frames for the artwork. On the left corner I usually have a mother-in-laws tongue plant but I had it outside when I took the photo....See MoreDecorating guest bedrooms for a new build
Comments (6)always depends on the people expected to use the rooms but usually decorate to suit your own taste to tone with the rest of the house but furniture should suit the use..eg a parent/relative or close friend coming for a regular weekend could have a home away from home with schemes to suit "mum's favourite colours" and storage for clothes and toiletries to be kept in "their" rooms but an occasional guest would not expect the room to be kept for their personal use and you could make the rooms useful for a study or MPR with a comfy sofa bed and desk for guests...See MoreBedroom art work -unisex
Comments (8)Hi Linda, you've chosen the right colours to create a lovely restful space for your bedroom: the blue/green spectrum is the most calming. > If the wall that you would look it when propped up in bed is available, that's the wall to place your new artwork on - where you can easily admire it. > Artwork is a very personal choice but, to maintain a gender neutral (!) and meditative theme, you might like to take a look at our aura collection. This colour variation of our 'lohtse' design would work very well for you, and is available as both a stunning, shadow-casting perspex artwork as shown, or as a canvas print which I think might suit your style better. We produce all our artworks to order in dimensions to suit the space. Our treescapes are another very popular option, particularly if the room doesn't enjoy an outlook that connects you to nature - which has become all the more important for many. This colour version of 'aberfeldy' would again be a great match. Hope that helps - feel free to DM us for more info. We design and produce all our artworks right here in Australia and would love to help if our artworks resonate with you....See Moredecodilema
