Custom Orb looks great. But.....your flashings and trims can cost a lot of money and labour to finish well. If you use it in a few select areas that need little or no flashings then it works better. It becomes even more of a 'cool' feature then as well. Installing it vertical rather than horizontal could be much easier to install as well. We cladded our house in it about 7 years ago. While it looks great I probably wouldn't do it again due to the cost (and mucking around..) and also the fact that a change of colour isn't a paint brush away...... My preference would be FC sheet with battens over the joins, a bit of Custom Orb in a few selected areas that are hard to maintain/paint/etc and good old face brick. Recycled bricks rather than new would be a nice feature as well. Face brick needs little maintenance and doesn't damage easily from kids running into with bikes, etc..

I second James Hardie Axon cladding as it has a vertical groove that echoes the original vertical weatherboard. Or you could get some weatherboard custom milled to match the existing and just patch the damage without doing the whole house. In the photo below I specified the Axon sheet which was then painted lime yellow. Also be aware that some builders will suggest materials that will make their lives easier rather than what actually looks good and will be durable and long-lasting. Hebel is great for insulation but needs to be rendered and painted so more labour means cost was similar to brick and Hebel is susceptible to cracks along joins and damage from bumps and paint and render stains while brick is virtually maintenance free so would not use Hebel or any cladding that needs to be rendered or painted again... "next time" we plan to use well insulated reverse brick veneer clad in galvanised steel to maximise passive solar energy in our cold climate but gal roof and walls not acceptable to some councils and heavy walls not suitable for hot climates and very interested to hear others' experiences comparing traditional brick with other cladding

The eave ones are fairly standard. The cladding joins are quite ordinary.
