Excited to see some of the images come through!

Hi Karen, If it is possible to do a master suite in the attic, access stairs via the study would be great for this, privacy and parents study all in one space. I have changed the ensuite into the family bathroom much better to serve the bedrooms, a master ensuite could be plumbed above from this as well. You would then have a powder room along with a laundry in place of the old rooms. I have moved the fridge/Wall Oven/Pantry and built it all flush where the old pantry was which I think looks and functions much better Pushed the kitchen wall out under the eaves squaring off the Bay window and allowing direct access into the kitchen to unload family and shopping. A servery from the kitchen has been included out to the verandah for BBQ's Just something for you to consider, hope you can work out my very rough sketch.

I would be looking carefully at your bathroom and powder room arrangements, especially with the shower and water splash distances. I can't see any shower screens to either shower? As it is drawn I hope you like mopping floors after every shower. For a family home there will be privacy issues when someone needs to access the laundry, while another family member is having a shower. I would separate the laundry and family bathroom into two distinct rooms as the current design is a compromise. With space so tight the second shower in the powder room seems excessive, and it is so small it is not very functional. You need to think carefully about the freestanding bath, the space it takes up, and the cleaning around it. A more traditional bath hob will give you fewer compromises in other areas as it will take up less space. Have you considered flyscreening with your bi-fold doors to the rear? Have you considered how you are going to furnish the living room? There is lots more, no doubt other Houzzers will pick up on. If you want a proper, detailed design/review or chat feel free to contact me. Best of luck, Dr Retro of Dr Retro House Calls

I have renovated 2 kitchens in 2 different homes over the last 15 years. Both times we lived with the original kitchen for around 2 to 3 years before we decided on the layout of the new kitchen, although 1 year would probably be enough,, but I think you need to experience the house in every season.. Living in a house for awhile makes clear how the house works for you or doesn't work and sometimes this is not immediately obvious. A kitchen is a big expense. You want to be sure you get it right first time. The current kitchen looks perfectly usable, so why not see how it goes for awhile? Also, 're the wine wall. Wine needs to be stored in stable conditions, away from heat and sunlight. I would be very careful about storing any quantity of wine in a kitchen or open area with abundant natural light, unless you are using purpose built cabinets with temperature control and some way of blocking the light.
