Samantha B I just completed my kitchen Reno in Perth. My pantry was also bricked up like yours. Literally doubled the space by getting rid of it but we found out after that the pantry was structural & we had to put an extra support beam in the roof instead ($800) so be careful of that! We completely moved the plumbing, gas & electrics & it only cost a few hundred! So don't be afraid to do that as long as u know decent priced tradies! We ended up doing nearly everything ourselves & went with a masters flat packed kitchen & sourced our own stone benchtops dirt cheap ($2500 installed for a 2m bench & a 1.5m island each with one waterfall edge.). I suspect the easiest and most efficient way is to get a custom table built to accommodate your bench seating. I would use chairs that could be moved away from the table when not eating which would add to your counter space as well. I'm not sure about wheels on a table that will have so much traffic around it because it could cause an accident if someone leans against it not expecting it to move. I can also see youngsters getting into a game of push/pull with the table at the most inopportune moment. :D

I would leave it as is with a few tweaks. Put in bifold doors, guessing you have flies and mossies so some pull out fly screens or any flyscreens. Build a little stud wall with gyproc to hide the edge of the dresser, done right it should just look like the existing wall. I’ve done it before, just a cheap weekend job. Paint everything, Whisper white, will be lovely against the background of trees. Then furnish outside with some comfy furniture that you love. 1. The reason I wouldn’t close it in is because your bedroom looks a pretty good size. 2. Cost wise, it would be heaps more. 3. You won’t be able to hose the windows or sweep the cobwebs without the balcony. 4. The sun might hit the windows without the balcony and now you have the luxury of no curtains. 5.if you extend you will need to worry about insulation and flooring etc. 6. I love your balcony, I think you might miss it. Maybe add a bird feeder as well as your comfy furniture, sit back and enjoy.
