As the end of Winter approaches, we're reminiscing the cosiest parts of the home and our favourite details in colder weather. Below are a few of our most favourites. We're curious to know which is your favourite?

Staying cosy with a throw and wicker basket for the firewood (perhaps enjoying an episode of Game of Thrones!)
Being in a vibrantly coloured and textured space that feels warm
Enjoying the outdoors in the comfort of the indoors
Reading by the Fireplace
Or maybe it's something else - let us know your favourite winter detail below

The kitchen. With all the prep for hearty slow cooked meat meals (osso, shanks, stews) or risotto with Andrea Bocelli playing loudly in the background during the prep and a glass of red. Then retiring to the loungeroom with a real wood fire, red wine and single malts to finish.

I like to get outside as much as I can, with at least a dog walk and when possible a spot of gardening. Just because it is winter it doesn't mean life stops. I do however enjoy looking outside at my garden, when I can not be in the garden and at night there is nothing better than a fire but don't let winter become a season for just sitting get out and enjoy the season.

I'm like telperien in that it depends on the season. I love hanging out on my leather sofa with a nice fire and a glass of scotch in the cooler months, and on the front veranda in more temperate months. We're on the side of a mountain facing northwest so we get some fantastic sunsets.

Are suspended fireplaces new? For that matter, a few other products in the link have been around for a while. Some good ideas, difficult to choose one, but I like the garden tank wall.

POLL: What's your favourite kitchen splashback?

We had a guy who printed posters print the photo and stick it on the glass for us (to make sure there were no air bubbles). He delivered it to the glazier who was installing the splashback. There was so much interest as it sat in the showroom, the glazier then started offering glass with pictures actually printed onto them... If your wall was smooth, you could put the 'poster' print onto ther wall as another option.

Yes, life goes on for me too, always something to do and a brisk walk always starts the day well and is warming too. Unfortunately we have just as many weeds that like to grow in winter as in summer, so the gardening never really stops but it is a great place to be on sunny days. Heavier work can also be done over winter before the heat of summer. I also like to catch up with friends for lunches in sheltered outdoor eating areas many cafes provide these days. On the really cold, wet days I like to take time out and indulge in my hobbies, winter is a great time to catch up with them and still feel productive.
