Doggy Door Help Please

My beloved is a 9-month-old Havanese puppy and I am wanting to provide him with access to an outside fenced area. This is only going to be possible through the laundry door which is double glazed glass and then has a separate wire mesh security door. Access to the laundry is through a standard internal door from the hallway. I am very conscious about security so would prefer something that is lockable while I am not at home and also something that will prevent other wildlife from coming inside uninvited. I would prefer to keep the laundry door closed as I live in rural Tassie so it would be heating another room although this is probably the least of my concerns. I am also in a fairly windy area so would prefer something that won’t bang in the wind. Mace spends his day in the open plan lounge dining kitchen area which leads to the hallway. What have Houzzers done that keeps both them and their fur babies happy, warm and secure? Do I put a doggy door on the hallway door as well? Can I put something in to the glass door but then what happens with the screen door – do I put one on it too?... having visions of the start of the old Maxwell Smart television series LOL (maybe a lift with outside access could be the answer … just kidding the budget isn’t that big!!) Any recommendations for design and products would be wonderful as I am a first time puppy Mum!
