Hi Karen, If it is possible to do a master suite in the attic, access stairs via the study would be great for this, privacy and parents study all in one space. I have changed the ensuite into the family bathroom much better to serve the bedrooms, a master ensuite could be plumbed above from this as well. You would then have a powder room along with a laundry in place of the old rooms. I have moved the fridge/Wall Oven/Pantry and built it all flush where the old pantry was which I think looks and functions much better Pushed the kitchen wall out under the eaves squaring off the Bay window and allowing direct access into the kitchen to unload family and shopping. A servery from the kitchen has been included out to the verandah for BBQ's Just something for you to consider, hope you can work out my very rough sketch.

Hi, use the cat as inspiration because its colours are beautiful - (a black white and tan rug would add a little wow) and its hair will blend in too. Next just add in small touches of a green you like and more of the base colours in rugs, throws, cushions etc. As for furniture if you follow decor trends it is now the thing to NOT have matching furniture sets in the bedroom but the trick is to link everything through colour. I suggest a picture rest shelf (Bunnings) running along the back wall above the bed at eye level. Pictures (and a mirror) and bits and bobs are then on one level, look intentionally placed, keep things tidy and out of reach of little hands and you can mix and swap as seasons and events change. Plants yes, they give colour and life, then a bit of wicker/rattan or other texture in plant bases, a chair or foot stools at the end of the bed. Some nice green glass vases or candle holders etc. etc. Easy changes that allow you to save for when you want to do your big reno. I would spend your big money getting rid of the strip lighting above the bed and adding nice floaty sheer curtains.

Agree with Kate. Walls are useful things. Do you use the sliding door out to the patio? Could this be bricked up, and the whole wall be dedicated to storage, fridge and oven. Plus an island for storage. Keeping sink in situ, due to cost of plumbing. Reduce the window size and install overhead cupboards either side. I would also install a window on the north side wall of lounge.

Hi All, Time for an update. We ended up stealing 800mm from bed 3 to make the bathroom bigger for a decent bath. We then built in the laundry lean-to to move the laundry to the back further and to create more space for the kitchen renovation in the future. We are about to have another baby, so the projects have to come to a halt for a few years. I can still plan though ;-). What we will have if we don't add another bedroom +rumpus. This the current pan if we decide to add the extra bedroom and create a roof space by re roofing the back half of the house. Bit to unpack: -demo back pergola, add 600mm to the wide and add a deck. -add a extra bedroom + ensuite to the back of it house. -demo the back roof structure from roughly the kitchen onwards, install a gable roof , so we can install solar panels on the northen face. The roof trusses will be special roof attic truses. -Skylights on southern side for sunlight. The issue I have is the roof height. The roof is aprox 23.7 degrees, the finished ceiling height at the centre of the ridge is 1974mm. The NCC states roof attics need 2.2m ceiling height for 60% of the area. If the finished attic space is 3m, 1.8m wide needs to be a minimum of 2.2m to be a habitable space. I have done a few calculations, do you the roof line would look funny if it steped up after the kitchen by 600-650mm, but keeping the roof pitch the same?? I guess it's similar to when there is a floor level change, sometimes the roof changes with it. Is anyone able to model it?
