Thanks for looking at the project and your question.

The island bench was planned well in advance and so the structural engineer was able to design it before the first floor slab was poured. There is an awful lot of reinforcing steel in the slab at the base of the bench and also in the bench itself. The bench is over 3.0m long and made of concrete with a 30mm thick timber top of Tasmanian Blackwood. The bench wasn't itemised as a separate cost, so I can't help you with that part of your question.
