electrolux, westinghouse, AEG are all middle of the range, and from my experience, are very good appliances. But in saying that, every brand will have their one appliance that breaks down. And the above companies are very good for service requirements if that rare thing does happen.

I would choose a pyrolytic self cleaning oven. They are so good. cleaning with no chemicals.

Mieledishwasher

I'll offer a slightly different perspective , but if you have the time , look at every appliance in whatever category you are looking at , all the details .

Why I say that is because almost every manufacturer has an each-way bet . They have their wellknown brand , and they spend $100's of thousands a year 'building that brand' , so you pay $100 , $300 , $500 more . But they don't want to miss out on the budget end of the market , so they have another brand that doesn't get any money spent on promoting it , doesn't go to the home shows , isn't sold in the high end stores , but is often sold at Hardly Normal if you look beyond the front row .

Some of these will be identical , some will have cheaper quality components , some will be 2 or 3 year old models without the latest features , but which they still have all the components and/or designs . Others are made in Asia , and 'brand engineered' -- 6 companies may sell the same thing with 6 different stickers on the front .

If you find a 'brand name' product , and the identical 'whatever brand you want put on it' version , the cheaper one is generally a real good buy , because the brand name manufacturer has either designed it , or they've tested it thoroughly and happy to put their name on it -- and of course with 3 or 6 different brands selling it , theres economy of scale .

Anyway , thats a long way of saying be careful -- some budget brands are great , some premium products are just cheapies with a price sticker 3 times as large ! A mate of mine bought a water cooler with a stainless steel base and brand name for $899 -- I bought one that appeared identical ( the parts even interchanged ) for $220 . Mine is still going after 5 years , his stopped and was thrown in the skip 18 months ago !

I would really recommend my Neff oven and cooktop. Considered high end, but they do have good specials from time to time. Very good quality product, made in Germany. Pyrolitec oven a total must, pay more up front but totally worth it. The oven door folds into a cavity at the bottom, giving easy access. I also have a miele dishwasher which i like too.

Not had a Miele dishwasher but one of their basic ovens, cooling fan stayed on for 50 mins after cooking ..arggh
And noisy.
Bosch dishwasher I love.
Westinghouse oven, cheaper end one ...excellent customer service when thermostat went 5 yrs in and out of warranty. Replaced it...said wanted customers always happy on phone.
Bosch double door fridge freezer...plastic ice maker blade thing started crumbling..plastic in ice! Didn't care...

Then New Year's Eve the fridge thermostat fan thing went..
Wouldn't stay cold. Again...muggins here had to pay call out on New Year's Day, took a week to get a part. Freezer was ok this time..lol
Bosch...not interested.
Getting Electrolux French door next mth, hope they r better

I recently redid my kitchen. I went with Electrolux gas stove because of the position of the burners and they heat extremely quickly; pyrolitic AEG oven (sense cook) and Asko dishwasher. All are extremely good products. My rangehood is an Asian Fotile which has a high suction power for Asian cooking and also looks very good. I used an insinkerator and black Oliveri tap with removable nozzle spray and large Franke single sink that was a great decision as I can wash my oven trays without a problem.

We have done in previous houses:
Electrolux ceramic cooktop - good if you can't afford induction
Electrolux 600L upside down fridge (pair) - excellent and have now been going for about 12-15 years. Still going strong.
Bellini induction cooktop - good for the price
Electrolux integrated range hood - did the job. I have yet to hear any quiet range hood.
Bosch dishwashers - excellent. All Bosch appliances we have found to be quite reliable.

In the current house, we have:
Miele dishwasher - the original from build,still going after 20 years. quick cycle, quiet, a bit finicky if you don't stack it right.
Bosch 90cm oven - new replacement after the original Ariston died. It does the job, but wouldn't do a 90cm oven again. Two 60cm ovens are much more practical.
Smeg microwave with trim - works ok, but smells like cigarettes after my daughter tried to heat a muffin using the "muffin" setting.

In the upcoming new build, we will put in a Miele dishwasher, two Neff ovens and an induction cooktop.

And if you get many appliances serviced or repaired, such as AEG, the technicians come from the Electrolux repair company.

hey could you share what did you go with and if you are happy? we are in the same situation right now and applainces that we look at dont have good reviews. i think we decided on mitsubishi fridge and bosh dishwasher, no idea about the induction cooktop, oven or rangehood.

If you are buying a few items a subscription to Choice magazine is really worth the investment. You can cancel once you have purchased everything- we have found it very handy over the years.

I have a subscription but I am even more confused tbh. The items highly rated on choice website are poorly rates on product review Web.
