Dining table choice
I’ve spent months trying to find the perfect dining table for my small open plan dining area.
I’ve come across this 1930s extension table. What do you think? Can anyone suggest something better? More modern perhaps?
The style of my home is somewhat modern country. I’m wanting to keep the cream Edwardian dining chairs so I’m looking to find a table that ties in with them. I was wanting to try and stay away from something too antiquey. I also need the table to tie in with the kitchen and lounge room (sofa will change eventually).

I still have more of the reno to do. painting, French doors - the whole, living room wall needs to be rebuilt with new windows and doors and the sliding laundry door through the kitchen will be swapped over for a wood stained antique twin opening door (I’m going to repair and reuse the existing original back door). I’m also looking for a regency era gilt over mantle mirror and an off white velvet sofa. The two armchairs will be reupholstered in an off white exterior fabric (to help keep clean!)

Comments (4)Thanks Janine and Luke. Our home is not country by any means. It is a new build. The dining room is part of an open space that joins our stairs, living and kitchen. We are going for a "scandinavian look" if that is even the word for it! haha. A lot of timber, timber floors and furniture, clean whites and greys. Lots of timber stacker doors, glass pendant lights, glass handrails on open timber stairs, all white kitchen with one long large window, a single timber shelf rather than upper cupboards and oversized glazed white subway tile splash back. Comments (47)Hi anzella, loving the new table and chairs, because you live in North QLD I wouldn't worry about a rug under the table, apart from you climate I find rugs under tables can become very annoying . If however you do decide to have one down the track, Sisal Rugs are great for your climate, you can even make your own to whatever size by buying the sisal and edging it yourself or getting a carpet place to overlock the edges.
