A traditional style kitchen with a modern twist was the brief for this kitchen renovation. The central island, which cleverly conceals a laundry chute, is home to a large gas cooktop surrounded by ample bench space, making cooking in this kitchen both enjoyable and social. Storage for pots, pans and cooking utensils is provided in the drawers below and pull outs for oils and spices mean that nothing is very far from hand when preparing a meal. The double bowl butlers basin is framed beautifully by 40mm thick natural granite benchtops. Subtly detailed profiled doors are adorned with traditional style pewter cup handles and knobs and the classic black and white colour scheme creates both an elegant and timeless feeling in this homely Queenslander.

Introducing our new 'Lonsdale' larder cabinet. This impressive piece of furniture with folding pocket doors is handpainted in Mizzle by Farrow and Ball with waxed iron handles by Clayton Munroe. The central section is an ideal way of concealing toasters, kettles, coffee machines etc that would otherwise clutter the worktops. There is plenty of useful storage with internal drawers, a pull out larder and even a curved spice rack on the back of the handmade curved doors. This extension Smith & Sons was involved in from the beginning. We worked with the client to confirm design and completed working drawings. The outcome was a beautiful extension with a stunning kitchen. We were please to receive the below review from our client. The whole process of dealing with Hayden from planning through to building was both enjoyable and hassle free. After hearing so many horror stories from friends who have extended, we found it an absolute pleasure to deal with Hayden. Hayden and his associates had integrity, an ability to listen to what we wanted and to follow through on our wishes. Having a house with a heritage overlay, we wanted to make some modern changes but also retain the local significance of the age of the home. Thanks to Hayden and the team, we now have a gorgeous new spacious home that we love.
