This project was on a steep block of land, allowing for great views and access to the breeze but required careful design to make it accessible and livable. The approach with this project was to split the floor levels, with the entry on the lower level and living on the upper level opening out to the rear North facing garden and verandah. This house is part of a strata approval, with a second house to be built on the front portion of the block in the future. The location of the houses was planned to ensure privacy, outlook & quality outdoor areas for both houses.

The clients brought a love of contemporary forms and Japanese aesthetics which helped to shape the look of the house. The exterior features grooved fibre cement cladding and parapet walls. Internally the owners love of colour and the use of plywood wall linings and tatami floor matting make a warm, richly textured space. Picture windows and the Juliette balcony to the master bedroom frame the neighbourhood views and make the most of the high elevation.
