There has to be a way to hide the shoes and store enough of them. Having them allocated one shelf each is not practical. The bin/drawers look more reasonable.

I don’t really like how the shoes are just really out there. I wouldn’t recommend this, because the shoes are just odd.

I know there are lots of negative comments on mud rooms, but I'm thankful for Houzz for presenting them. Also grateful that some houses do come with them. Mine certainly doesn't . Also, mud rooms like all other areas of a house, does need maintenance and cleaning! There aren't any self-cleaning mud rooms invented yet; would be nice though. It's good to have a look at these mudrooms, tweak it a bit to suit you. There are some great ideas on the page. What I suggest for the wet, snowy and muddy regions is to have a dog-wash /foot basin with a mesh drip rack and coat hangers on the wall area in the basin area so that you can wash boots, hang wet coats and mittens and what not, and it will drip and drain. But, once the items are dry, it remains your responsibility to put them away in the lockers or whichever storage you decide to have in the mud room. As I said before, self-cleaning mudrooms haven't been invented yet! Let's take the positive side of the mudrooms presented! Check this link and you'll see my idea: https://www.petsbest.com/blog/installing-a-dog-washing-station/
