Jess has been a total godsend! She took the time to understand our brief, which sounds straightforward enough, but after meeting with a few architects, many seemed to push their own agenda. Jess understood the kind of house we needed for our family and her communication skills are second to none. Her design masterfully made excellent use of an awkward shaped block of land and she has created a home which is both unique and modern, whilst staying sympathetic to the area. Jess has been incredibly calm and patient, always willing to talk through issues through the many stops and starts we have had. She understood the bureaucracies of the local council, and was able to get our plans over the line, which was not an easy task. We have had many people comment what a fantastic house she has designed. I could't recommend Jess highly enough!

We met with Jess & gave her our brief for what we wanted 2 houses on a subdivision with a particular land size for each A week later her initial designs came back with almost exactly what we asked for for the land sizes we wanted other architects were trying to convince us otherwise but Jess made our brief work for what we wanted We have worked with her for the past 3 years & almost nothing has been a problem & we are totally amazed at how great our first house has turned out now we are on to the second one I would give 6 stars if I could!

Jess was recommended to us for a small renovation in our apartment. Jess listened to what we were seeking to get out of the renovation, and worked with us to come up with a solution. When we started, we had no idea of how it would turn out or what the options could look like. Jess created a solution that was affordable, responsive to the existing building and reflective our family needs. Jessica is a really fantastic architect. She is highly skilled, down-to-earth, and great to work with. She listens very carefully and struck the perfect balance between responding to what we wanted with suggesting new ideas that enhanced our build. Jess designed our house extension, which involved more than doubling the floor space and significant reconfiguring of existing space, and we're really happy with the result. She delivered several break-through ideas for how to connect the new section to the old one that makes the house flow well and 'work'. No one else had spotted these solutions. It's so worthwhile spending money on good design. Jess made sure all the details were right - things like making sure the windows were right and placed to maximize light, privacy and proportions. We road-tested several architects and also engaged a design-and-construction company over the course of several years in our quest to design our house extension. None of them listened to what we wanted the way Jess did. We recommended Jess very highly.

I walked past a house that had been recently renovated and loved it so I knocked on the door and asked the owners who their architect was. It was Jess Matson and I called her the next day to ask if she could help me with my renovation. Jess completely understood what I wanted from my renovation and how I wanted to live in my home. She helped to translate my vision into a design that I could afford and made many suggestions to enhance the design that are features that I absolutely love today. I had many questions and was very particular. Jess was excellent to work with, always available, always delivered on time and would work with me to resolve any problems we encountered. Jess also recommended an excellent builder who she often works with and who understands her designs. The builder was also excellent and it was a very smooth build.

Based on a recommendation, we engaged Jess to help us design a new-build modern terrace. Jess was really great to work with, highly knowledgeable and brought lots of great ideas. Jess listened to what we wanted and was extremely collaborative, such that we used Jess to provide project management support during the build. Jess worked very hard to ensure the builder understood and delivered our vision. The end result is a beautiful, functional modern house, that maximises the use of space, uses a mix of modern and recycled materials, is very sympathetic to the streetscape and a house we really love to live in.

Jess was easy to work with, professional and thorough. She provided economical and stylish designs based on our rough ideas. Jess recommended a great builder and worked with him to deliver a renovation with a real wow factor.

We were so happy with Jess and how she managed to transform our pokey galley kitchen and dining area into a lovely light-filled space that we now spend so much more time in. Jess was so flexible around our time and work commitments, budget and desig ideas and so helpful with all the peripheral jobs that need to be done on a renovation like this (Council, insurances etc.). We were relaxed about everything because we trusted her to keep us informed, guided and on top of everything. She bent over backwards to accommodate our foibles - ‘no we want to keep that xyz’ - against her recommendations and put us on to a great builder and cettifier. She made it so easy for us and we love the result (and so does everyone who sees it).

Jess did an amazing job on our difficult to access semi-detached property in Marrickville. Jess was very generous in the time that she spent going through different options with us and was always accomodating of the changes that we wanted to make. Her knowledge of the council approval process was superb and I'm sure saved us a lot of pain. Her vision has provided us with a beautiful light filled 'forever' house that we absolutely love being in. She was able to provide us with good contacts for a builder and joiner. Our builder meticulously followed Jess's drawings and Jess was always available to speak to him for guidance when required making the renovation process smooth sailing. We would definitely recommend Jess's service to others.

Jessica was referred to me through a builder and as first time renovators we didn’t know what to expect. Jessica took the time to listen to how we lived, what needed to change and what we wanted. Our home is of double brick construction with some art deco features on a difficult, narrow, rearward sloping block with diverse elements. Existing additions to the back were poorly designed and well past their prime therefore much in need of replacement. Jess has transformed the rear with a wonderful contemporary design that captures the winter light that we needed, plus forms a strong connection between the house and back garden with pool. We are delighted with the results, and appreciated her professionalism in our dealings with her. Jess's responses to our queries were always prompt and her guidance during the planning stages enabled us to maximise the benefits of a functional, attractive extension. We strongly recommend her as an innovative architect, mindful of environmentally sustainable design and very creative with the use of difficult spaces.
