I engaged Design Studio 22 to help me plan and design extensive renovations to my old weatherboard house. It's a particularly complicated job due to a tricky shaped site and existing issues with the building. Rick and Lyn have guided me step by step all the way through the process. Our initial meetings and discussions over the phone were all about listening, they really got to know me and what I wanted to achieve. After that they communicated very well every step of the way, linking me up with key sub-contractors and negotiating the technical aspects of the planning in a way that I could understand. When elements of the design required decisions from me, the options were laid out in an email and then we would discuss over the phone. If I made a suggestion that would result in a change to the plans, this was considered appropriately. The answer was not always "yes, we can do that" because some of my suggestions were not technically feasible. When this was the case, we discussed my idea in detail so I could understand what the future construction risks were and reassess my decision. I found these discussions incredibly valuable and I welcomed the open and honest relationship we formed. Having your design team be experienced enough to challenge some of your ideas is the best way to mature your plans and end up with a project that is achievable both technically and financially. What was the result of all this? I have a set of designs and engineering plans that I'm 100% happy with; that reflect what I wanted to achieve; and that I have confidence that I can give to a builder today and they could start work tomorrow. Lyn was exceptionally helpful in helping us come up with a vision for our massive two bedroom unit. They assisted in finding innovative ways to maximise the space and make everything look and feel striking. The fixture choices and colours matched perfectly with what we had in mind. The project finally got off the ground, and using the design provided by Lyn, it is going to look amazing!

The floor plan design that Design Studio 22 developed was extremely liveable, with adding functionality and light to the space. They brought an element of innovation and creativity to the design by addressing a space limitation we had. The house could not facilitate a separate laundry and therefor a bathroom/laundry concept was created which combined the essential functions of a laundry with the practical and aesthetic requirements that a modern day Bathroom demands. Would highly recommend and would use again.

Lyn and Richard from Design Studio 22 were outstanding from start to finish. Tasked with the difficult challenge of undertaking the renovation of an untouched 1970's 2 bedroom unit and transforming into a modern beachside holiday escape was no easy feat.......... and they nailed it! The scope of this transformation included taking the unit back to a base frame and starting again, including structural changes to the floor plate. The level of detail that Lyn went to with the design was beyond belief resulting in nothing being left to chance.... everything you need to holiday had been thought of and specified! We are so happy with there innovative designs that we have now engaged them to undertake a similar renovation to another property. In addition to external and internal design Lyn is project managing the entire renovation including the tendering process and build. I would definitely recommend Design Studio 22 for your project!

Excellent building and interior designers. So talented and personable. Amazing ability to translate all our wish list into an awe inspiring and practical design. They really listened to our needs and designed our dream home; inside and out. We constantly receive compliments from visitors on how beautiful our house is and how clever the angles and design are. It is also practical; having been designed with the right aspects in mind and taking advantage of the elements, we rarely need heating or cooling. Highly recommended!!!

I cannot say enough good things about the interior design service that I received by Lyn Malcolm from Design Studio 22. It was outstanding and very complete. Lyn is knowledgeable, easy to work with and has a great eye for colour and overall design. She listened to my ideas and shared her knowledge, insights and creativity to create a kitchen and living space that was beautiful, functional and captured the look that I wanted to achieve in my family home. Nothing but compliments for this team! Approachable, professional and attentive. Before even hiring the team or forking out any $$, their design examples and information provided during the quotation process was exemplary. Other firms would provide basics, and a few old examples, with some rough price figures here or there. Design Studio provided a wealth of information and really showed a desire to take on the project. Which surprised us, as they were the most impressive, as well as the most affordable. Given we weren't the 'easiest' of clients, it took around 12 months to finish our dream-home design, to which the team was nothing but patient and enthusiastic. Every aspect of our vision was covered with precision and ease, and in the end it was without doubt exactly what we'd been hoping for. Unfortunately we weren't able to pull through with the physicality of our project, but they'd be the first to call for our next one. We couldn't imagine using anybody else!
