We couldn’t be happier with the work Dave from Forest Joinery did on our renovation. From the first enquiry, Dave was professional, responsive and incredibly thorough. He asked all the right questions before quoting, his pricing was very reasonable, and everything was delivered exactly within the timeframe he promised. What really stood out was that Dave wasn’t afraid to tell us if something wasn’t the best idea or the most practical solution. Instead of just building what was on the plans, he suggested better alternatives. After living in the house for a month now, we’ve realised just how valuable his advice was. Had he not spoken up, we wouldn’t have known any different until after everything was finished. Dave never minded answering questions, no matter how trivial they seemed. He understood that every little detail contributes to how practical and enjoyable the house is to live in, and he was always happy to share his experience and explain the reasoning behind his recommendations. Dave completed our custom kitchen featuring custom-made 2-pack polyurethane shaker doors, along with our walk-in pantry, laundry, walk-in robe, custom ensuite vanity, Polytec cabinetry, stone benchtops, a curved benchtop and Steccawood detailing. The quality and attention to detail are outstanding. Every drawer and door glides smoothly, closes perfectly, and the overall finish is exactly what we had hoped for. Dave was also refreshingly honest throughout the process. On several occasions he recommended more economical options that would actually give a better result, which we really appreciated. Our builder, who has exceptionally high standards for workmanship and cleanliness, was also very impressed with Dave and his work, which gave us even more confidence we’d made the right choice. Dave also worked very well alongside our other trades and coordinated with them to ensure he wasn't getting in anyone's way. His after-sales service has been just as impressive. Even after installation, he’s been happy to answer questions and make sure everything is exactly as it should be. Unfortunately our budget didn’t stretch far enough to have Dave build every piece of cabinetry in the house. Comparing his 2-pack polyurethane finish to a more budget-friendly option we used elsewhere has really highlighted the difference in quality. Even a month after moving in, the cheaper cabinetry still has a noticeable chemical smell, whereas Dave’s joinery had none from day one. Our only regret is that we ran out of budget and couldn’t have Dave do everything! We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Dave and Forest Joinery to anyone looking for high quality custom joinery, and we’ll definitely be getting him back for any future projects.

We had a wonderful experience with Dave for our TV unit. Dave asked all the right questions, was knowledgeable about all our different options, and did a fantastic job installing our unit, even disguising the fact that our floor wasn't level. My experience with this company was very good from the start. David Gerson called me soon after I left a message on his phone, came by as he promised, discussed all the details of the job and told me about the stages to be expected. He sent the next day a very reasonable quote and after I agreed to start found the right wood (it had to match the existing wardrobe in the room), took measurements, discussed more details and gave me an estimate date for the end of the job. With a very short delay, due to Covid, he kept his word and installed a beautifully finished cabinet and work desk, exactly as planned.

I got off to rather a slow start with the company but Michelle maintained communication until the principal could find the time to come up and measure for my kitchen renovation. I found Dave professional and knowledgeable of all aspects of the trade. The remodeling, and improvements to the cabinetry suggested and realized by Dave and his team upgraded what had started to look like a tired kitchen, to a fresh superior workspace. The replaced cupboards, fittings and drawers are all top quality and hugely increase my enjoyment of the space. A new quartz benchtop which was ordered oversize to incorporate a breakfast bar at Dave’s suggestion is a triumph. The installation team were extremely careful in protecting the floor, cleaned up perfectly and were very respectful of my home. All in all thoroughly pleased and a good experience.

Dave Gerson has a special knack for making kitchens and joinery for home fit outs. I find him to be rather pedantic and meticulous, which are great skills when it comes to attention to details. And this is critical when it comes to the fine details of making and more so, installing a kitchen. Dave did a finicky little job retrofitting cupboard doors to an existing bookcase, as well as building a small additional cupboard for my study. Both jobs were completed to an exceptional standard and are working perfectly. Dave was able to match with existing fitout to a "T", and also gave me some excellent advice (when I asked!) for the deck renewal project I was about to commence at time of installation. Dave completed our kitchen renovation in May/Jun 2019. We got a few quotes but Dave was the most professional and reasonably priced. Dave managed the project from start to finish and the communication throughout was fantastic. As a client, we were a little uncertain of options for doors, drawers, wine rack fittings, etc and Dave advised us throughout the process of pros and cons. We were a little indecisive, but he always received our "change of mind" with a smile and no sign of frustration. He seemed to really take a pride in his work and he kept the place super clean, tidy and organised throughout the fitting - always vacuumed and swept up at the end of the day and took away all the packaging and excess. We were super happy with the result and I'd highly recommend Dave to anyone who wants a quality kitchen.

Dave has now completed 5 pieces of work for us from redesigning our kitchen making it more user friendly to designing and building his first cd free standing draw system. In total from the original job to the last it took around 9 months to complete but it suited us to do each piece this way so it gave us a bit of thinking time to come up with design features for each piece. Dave was more than accommodating over that entire period and came up with great ideas before each order was placed.

Dave built some wardrobes and under-stair storage for us. The workmanship was top quality and he helped us refine what we wanted with helpful suggestions which left us with cupboards that look amazing.

Dave designed and built a cupboard for toy storage for us. Quality was excellent and design perfect - matching our existing kitchen joinery and finishes. He also build cupboards in our spare bedroom, which look great and utilized the space much better that what we had in their previously. We’ve been really happy with both jobs.

The team did a fantastic job installing a TV unit in our lounge. They asked us lots of sensible questions up front so that they were really clear exactly what we wanted and also provided their expert opinion in a few areas, which was very helpful given our lack of knowledge when it came to joinery!
