My chiminea is actually made from cast-iron and works a treat. I couldn't afford a terracotta one and heard that they can crack easily. Mine is tucked away and comes out when needed. The heat that it radiates is amazing and I believe it burns much hotter than an open fire pit and uses less wood. I love it.

We installed this gas log fire in our B & B which has been very well received. We wanted to provide a warm and cosy environment for our winter guests. The wooden shelf above is beautiful wood, not sure what type and there are two cupboards either side, one for DVD's games and CD's and the other houses the technology. The flue is on the outside wall behind the fire place. It is very efficient and effective. It warms the whole apartment including a separate bedroom and kitchen. I would highly recommend this type of heater which is thermostatically controlled and so easy for our guests to use with a remote control.

the verandah is a critical aspect to the original - I'd advise against altering or removing it- it adds dimension and character to the facade/form. I'd recommend any potential alterations/additions (if ever/being entertained) to be contained to the rear and respect/retain existing character that is contributory to the significance of the style of the building. Perhaps consolidate some ideas/goals and then seek some preliminary advice from a professional who is familiar/experienced (and respectful) to the building type you're working with....best of luck with it :) PD

Does anyone know where ican buy this gorgeous sofa, it is pictured on the latest Home beautiful cover but states that it’s American. I have seen similar designs here but I love this ne with the wood detail and colour of fabric
