We have been a supplier of OSMO Hardwax Oils for a while now and have found that they have been great in all applications. They have an Oil specifically designed for Kitchen benchtops. OSMO Top Oil which is foodsafe and contains linseed, carnauba wax, candelilla wax, sunflower oil, soybean oil & thistle oil. You can buy it from VCS Products in Perth or Natural Timber Oils in Melbourne.

Hi there, Have you ever heard about the 'work triangle' concept when designing kitchens? https://www.houzz.com/magazine/how-to-set-up-a-kitchen-work-triangle-stsetivw-vs~1042314 It is essentially about connecting the three main elements of the kitchen: the fridge, the cooker and the sink. As a rule, to achieve an efficient layout the triangle formed by lines linking these three elements should total 3.6 -6.6m in my experience. Try to avoid circulation through the triangle - particularly between sink and cooker which should not be more than 1.8m apart. I hope this helps!

Hi Aninaya, have lived in several houses with bar seating but we’ve never been ‘sit at the island/peninsula’ people, so we don’t even have an overhang in our recently built place. We have easily accessible, dining room facing storage instead. One thing to be aware of though, a wide island or peninsula can look a bit heavy / blocky. Particularly dark, monochromatic styles. We overcame this with a timber feature but shelving, shape, or other architectural design will work to overcome the issue. A few Houzz photos, and ours, to give context 👇🏻
