Building a Home Exterior Design Dilemma

Colours on external doors

First time builder

Due to the slopping block, we have a very tall garage which looks out of proportion.
Would changing the front door/garage door colour (garage door we selected Pemberton Gum)make a difference in reducing its impact?
Attached a photo for your reference.
The final coat of the rendering section will be Dulux Bygone.
Windows frame and roof are Monument
Melbourne hawthorn bricks with natural mortal

You are looking at a facade that is not yet finished. With landscaping it will finish the overall facade. The brickwork above garage door will not be as noticeable with finished landscaping. The timber look door you have selected will also make the facade completely different. Have you also chosen a timber door? You have a wonderful looking home. Be patient and trust your selections and wait for everything to be finished.

At the moment, the only part of your home facade that is finished is the brickwork. The SLOPING block will just need good landscaping to allow for the change of level.

I love this house because it is quite sculptural. Before you paint I would remove ALL the vegetation that is crammed up in front of the house. Declutter. I think the garage is a visual problem that needs to be dealt with. SO a brave solution would be to paint it all beautiful black...( a warm black (dulux Terrible Billy has warmth)...nothing with blue or green in it..they look cold) ...including the garage door, or do garage and left side of house black and middle section maybe a colour or a sexy grey. OR paint the whole thing a really good white. Be careful...some whites look like undercoat. Needs to be a warm white. Then you could paint the left wing another shade to distract from the garage. Tell us what you decide....good luck

I just googled & found this site, which quotes cost of R2.5 75mm. there are other suppliers as well. What was quoted to you for cost of roof installation, and was it itemised so you can see exactly what thickness the foil-backed insulation builder will use? I'm guessing the thinner (lower R factor). So, the new quote should reflect a credit for the cost of previous insulation, since it won't be used, then cost of thicker insulation added. Does that make sense? consider a similar colour in a shade darker than the timber trims...if the plinth is exposed to nearby lawn mowing or garden beds the darker colour is more forgiving of dirty marks and makes a better background for planting

Paint is relatively cheap , it would tie the 2 'halves' together if done at least half way right -- that is part of my thinking on keeping the filligrees too -- they add interest and even a hint of class and a bygone era , but they are consistent across the buildings . But to do weatherboards over the brick , you either need to do 'fake' door and window surrounds , and then your doors and windows set back in ; or remove the doors and windows , do the weatherboarding and surrounds , and reinstall the joinery 'further out' . I guess you could try glueing the boards on , but they'll still be 50-60mm 'deeper' , but if you do say 50x50mm battens then weatherboard , you are adding at least 100mm to the window and door depths . A lot of $$$$ to not achive a heap IMO .

First time builder, if you look at the door of yellow toilet in your photo, this would be similar render colour of your Dulux Bygone. As I posted earlier, There is still a lot of change to the facade that’s needed. The very tall brick wall above the garage that your concerned about will be a nice break to the dark render. The brick will be a feature.

A modern pergola type structure in the window colour across the top of the garage would break up the tall expanse of brick. With an evergreen vine.
