With the soft green walls and heritage character, I’d keep the room warm and classic rather than too modern. A medium warm timber stain would suit the floor well, while off-white, linen or light beige roller blinds would keep the space bright. For furniture, I’d mix natural or walnut timber with neutral pieces, such as a beige or soft grey couch and a textured rug in cream, muted green or warm grey. I’d also add a simple mantel over the fireplace even if it won’t be used, because it will help preserve the heritage feel and frame the large canvas nicely. A few plants, warm lamps, framed pieces and subtle brass or timber accents would also bring everything together without taking away from the original character of the room.

Unless you live like animals, carpet does not 'harbour' a single living organism. It's a scientific fact. It's your bed that harbours organisms. Carpet acts like an air filter for dust, waiting for you to vacuum it out. Timber flooring allows dust to be constantly stirred up into the air in the home unless you vacuum and mop daily. At the end of the day, go with what you like- carpet in bedrooms and not in high traffic areas is logical. I've manufactured carpet for years and wholesale carpet and hard flooring. I am leaning toward this product CD50 EXTREME so we don't have to strip back the coating any time. I'm prepared to recoat every 8 months to keep it looking good. I'll prob use a slight tint just for extra sun protection. It's next to a pool and spa and full sun so wish me luck! Would love to get more opinions. My builder says use Sikens but I never want the issue of the finish flaking and splitting and then having to strip back.

Hi Andrew, I think you are asking what type of timber you can use to match your floors. You may like to consider either Karri, ( or Spotted Gum, Nyatoh or Tasmanian Blackwood) as these are readily available hardwood timbers in this varigated tone and grain pattern you have. It is also worth noting that Timbers that start out with red in them also actually fade over time to turn this nutty colour. Once you decide on a spiecies, your Cabinet Maker may also be able to hand pick colours to get the closest match. Hope this helps; regards Malcolm.
