Maybe something like this pendant to tie in with the timber floors: http://www.beaconlighting.com.au/lighting/pendant-lights/modern-pendant-lights/ledlux-nord-led-up-down-pendant-in-teak.html

Agnes, kicker concealed drawers are generally fitted into 150mm minimum kickers with a push catch release runner, which you kick with your toe. Runners are 25mm high, and the kicker drawer would be a solid base coinstruction, so factor in a 16mm base, 10mm top and bottom clearance combined, the 25mm runner, and you would end up with a 49mm high internal drawer box in a 100mm kicker, and almost 100mm in the 150. These drawers are really only useable for oven trays etc, although as they are used often, this is a impractical storage system to utilize daily. These drawers are factored in when limited storage can be included into joinery, and the cost for installation is quite high. The time to install onsite is costly, and level and even floors are a must for them to work. As for your floor, definately floor first so if joinery is ever modified the floor is consistent and no infills are needed. It is also beneficial for leveling, and sealing the floor surface entirely. Go with this option.

For any coating to adhere properly to the floor it will need to be sanded back completely. Lime washing the floor is always an option, but it is more expensive. White floors will always show more dirt and will require more maintenance to look their best. The floors you have would look beautiful sanded and polished. Staining the floor slightly darker is always an option as well. For help with your decision take a look at our floor sanding blog. Enter staining floors or liming into the search. Different looks can be created by choosing gloss or stain finishes as well. http://budgetfloorsanding.com.au/ Hope this helps with your decision.

Most timber stains will look good but I would go for a mid brown stain. Look at kitchen photos here on house - search white kitchen with timber floors. I just checked myself - when you enter white kitchen and timber floor- the majority of photos have medium tone (35000 images ) and only 15000 images or for dark timber and even less for light tone timber.
