Though I don't know for certain, I think the cotton/linen shades are removable. I wasn't able to determine this by my searches. This could easily be confirmed by making an enquiry to supplier before purchase. Alternatively, a handmade one could be made removable by making shade slightly larger than frame and making ties.

I’m with you. I love stained glass but it’s not for my home. I always have to remind myself that it’s ok to love something but not have it in my home. Maybe just have one light fitting in your main bedroom because that’s where you can be a bit more dramatic.

Thank you for your responses. Both areas are separated by a bulk head in the kitchen with the kitchen light a bit hidden by it. The dilema is that the dinning have traditional beige courtains with rectangular palmets and there is nothing black on it should i choose something that matches the color of the kitchen which is predominately black and beige or  something that matches the colours of dining wich are beige with the same colour of the wood as the shutters in the kitchen ( honey colur). If you don’t have the new light, what can the electrician install…so yes, purchase your new fitting first. If there are extra electrical components required for installation, the electrician should have them. Just as a suggestion, Maybe replace the ceiling fan with a ceiling fan with inbuilt light….
