Comments (9)We agree with @builderbrowne, Caesarstone is much cheaper and easier for a stone mason to work with than natural stone, if you want it that white specify "Pure White 1141". You're looking at over $1500 for the Caesarstone and mason work (depending on who you use)....See More"Kitchen help we want to get rid of breakfast bar"
Comments (10)looks fantastic.. at some stage I want to change my kitchen and extend it but just move the breakfast bar back a bit and make it longer. That would add 3 or 4 drawers 90 wide to the end of my breakfast bar and make the corner cupboard usable. A new caesarstone benchtop would top it off nicely I hate the laminate I have now.. In the meantime while I am waiting to afford to do this I am going to just get the 3 or 4 drawer unit and put a wooden top on it and place it at the end of my brekky bar. I will be able to use the cabinetry when I remodel the kitchen. In this photo you can just see the edge of the hallway wall.. if I extend out to be level with that then it will look right.. what you cant see in this photo i my pantry as there is none. Currently I use a hallway cupboard for all my baking and spices. And you can see that I have a long window just to the left front of the breakfast bar. So cant extend past that. So not much to work with.. the hole is where my fridge sits. These are photos of the setup pre purchase....See MoreKitchen Help - What is this space for?
Comments (23)Make the most of the era and the exposed bricks. Put in a large skylight and fit wall garden system to "green up" those bricks and larger pots on the base. The brick base is perfect to hide the drainage system you'll need. Get a steel fabricator to weld up a drip tray to fit inside. Mesh over the top covered in your choice of pebbles or a sheet of CoreTen rusty steel laser cut to a design of your choice. Some Balinese statues maybe. Year round herbs....See MoreKitchen help needed urgently
Comments (17)Hi clau. Whilst we were in those very early stages of reno-ing, we got told all sorts of things couldn't be done - even very basic things. We were also told there was only one way to some parts of our multi-room makeover. However, after speaking with alternative tradies, we learned that previous advice had been totally wrong; and there's almost always more than one solution. Some will tell you "it can't be done", but what they really mean is "I don't want to do it". There's a huge difference. It all depends on the experience and can-do attitude of the tradie. Unfortunately, it's left to us to work out if something really is impossible, or a huge, costly mega drama, or if they've embellished the negatives because they simply can't be bothered going to any effort. Can I suggest that if someone tells you something can't be done, ask them to explain why. If they can't explain it in a way that us novices can understand, or it sounds vague, illogical or dodgy, it probably is! Then it's definitely time to talk to someone else. If we had taken the initial "nuh, can't do that" as gospel, we wouldn't have a great, practical outcome. It would have been limited by what a lazy tradie wanted to do - or one who didn't respect that their client has to live with the results. We would've been miffed if we had spent all that moolah and found out later on that we didn't have to settle for a less than ideal outcome after all. Research, research, research, and fire off questions, questions, questions, and I'm sure you'll end up with a brilliant outcome. You'll wonder why you ever got stressed about it! :-) (PS: I'm not suggesting your sparkie may be a lazy tradie, far from it. I just wanted to share the benefit of what we discovered, that's all)....See MoreLaylaChris N Charlie Phillips
