Comments (37)Hello Paige, what a wonderful problem to have: too much space! As someone else said the table in the middle of the room may make the traffic way from dtr's bedroom through the glass doors a zig zag so the table over towards the wall is good. Stools are a good idea too. You could go with something timber and make or find coloured cushions for them and the dining chairs too. Different colours for differ4ent seasons! also I thought a desk and book shelves on the opposite wall would be great for homework, day to day household running and reading place would be lovely. You will be able to see the dtr's screen from the kitchen which is a great idea. Maybe a comfy chair will fit in one corner to encourage reading too. I get what you are saying about a rug for the floor. It would help to define the area but wait until drt eats more cleanly! I know I have been there done that!! No windows makes it a bit dark for plants maybe but a few more lights: along under shelving, pendents over the table will help. Cheers Margot OH and please show us what you do! Comments (8)Hi Louise. It’s great you provided the pics - to judge size, placement of all windows, views from windows, and location of electrical outlets. I‘m guessing the views aren’t so great, but they do seem to provide some daylight to that space. My initial thought is a bookcase against the full wall where the electrical outlet is. You have one near the sofa, would it work for you on that wall, or do you need the lamp where it is? Otherwise, an additional bookcase, OR a wide buffet with drawers for storage could be useful. Would you use a desk in this area? If so, It would need to go against the full wall so you have access to the outlet. Have you seen any desks and chairs you like? A reading nook is nice idea too, but you already have the sofa and other seating close at hand....See More
