Design ideas for an old window space in kitchen
Comments (7)Hi Belinda, it does look like you have a few issues to deal with - the shallow recess doesn't line up with anything it is cut into the splash back the narrow gap to the window it is out of alignment with the display shelves on the left So my first thoughts are - Tea/coffee cup display shelves with maybe a glass backing Wall mounted television screen Artistic decor piece made to fit Collection of antique copper kitchen items etc Chalk board Green wall with herbs Magnetic knife box display unit Board it up & patch the wall leaving a narrow gap above the splash back which could be creatively turned into a hanger with hooks or magnetic knife holder ??? Good luck ;)...See MoreWhat to do in empty fireplace?
Comments (11)Hi Malibu_tan Well I must also agree with the other four comments "the fireplace is a focal point" , all I would add to that is - man/woman has been looking at fire for many years, and it's reference to our being most likely goes back to primordial times. Fire (the moving flame) is deeply rooted in our psychic, and our relationship with safety and comfort, I would remove the heater and celebrate the fireplace. You can always put in an ethanol fire and close of the flue if required, but I would not get rid of such asset to your residence and your life. Depending a bit with the style of the house I would go as far as providing side book shelving storage, or DVD's, or your best collection of miniature spoons should miniature spoons bee your interest. Whatever you wish to display for your or your friends enjoyment. Then I would complete the lounge design around your final choice of tiles and mantle, if you are putting in a slightly better mantle than you have at present, or if you are going for a modernist look. (it all depends a bit on tastes and budget) If you are in a "period style" you could look at something like Regardless of your tastes I think you can get an ethanol insert in just about any fireplace, corny as it sounds the fireplace is "the hearth of the home" . Possibly not the response that you were perhaps seeking, and you might have a lot of reason why you want to remove it - well I would like to hear your comments. Hope this is of some help Regards Michael Manias...See MoreSeeking feedback on bathroom concept designs
Comments (25)Budget Bathrooms Melbourne, my course is through Open Colleges however (sadly) they don't teach us in great detail about technical drawings. We spend the first 13 modules, manually drawing our concept designs, and from Module 14, we begin to learn AutoCAD and also 3D modelling on SketchUP. After I complete the course, I am hoping to look into architecture at University, as they teach you everything about technical drawings however, Kitchen and Home Sketch Design's referral of Arch Draft course at Holmeglen TAFE sounds interesting! Best of luck with your extension of education :)...See MoreCreative Design and Layout ideas for dining room
Comments (29)Having the dining table on front of the windows like you suggested won’t be an option I think. We tried and it looks awkward especially because we won’t get a 3 Meter table in there without looking overly crowded. Additionally we were thinking dying sliding doors towards the garden there and having an outdoor lounge area. The dining table would then block access. However we noticed that off cantering the dining table under the bulkhead doesn’t look too bad. And a solution for the dining table light could be a straight light with two suspensions left and right of the bulkhead....See MorePaige
