Architect/Draufty - Bayside, Vic

Hi all - my hubby and I are hoping to build a duplex in Highett, Vic (Bayside Council) - square meterage of each around 28-30 - funds are limited so we're on the hunt for an architect or great draughty who has a fixed price and who likes the challenge of designing for a limited budget but is still innovative and creative and enjoys coming up with "hero" features that don't cost the earth. The right person would have to understand and be fully across Bayside Council's very strict regulations. Any ideas?

Go up top of the page to "find a pro" and put your suburb into the filter.

Hi fcgosling - further to the above advice, may I recommend that you read through some reviews of pros in your area on Houzz? These are closely moderated to ensure validity, and should be able to give you a better idea of how a pro works, their approach and overall attitude. Hope this helps, happy Houzzing!

Hi fcgosling - 28-30 square meters - I think You might find the space a little tight - you might like to revise the number of square meters - I think you might have left off a zero or you might mean "imperial squares" - or its a "tiny house" development.

Thanks for all the advice, everyone - yes, you're absolutely right, Michael - I do mean imperial squares - my mistake.

If it's a strict budget determining your direction, you're best off going with a designer draftsman rather than an architect.
Alternatively, consider looking into duplex builders, there are several who specialise in these sorts of projects in bayside areas and many may have designers on staff too.
