Would you rather: big deck or pool?

Lapping up the sun on the deck, or soaking it up by lapping the pool? Both options need maintenance and work - but they also bring so much entertaining potential and enjoyment to a home.

If you had a choice between the two, which would you pick?

In my neck of the woods a big deck with a fire pit is my dream.

When I lived in FNQ I loved loved loved our pool.

Microwaves are great for defroting and for a quick warm up on foods ut will never substitute the oven, specially the crispness you can achieve with the oven and this is only to mention one of the advantages. I rarely use my microwaves, unless for reheating some foods.

Hey Camira1999, your pool area has huge potential. We love the wooden element you've added to your outdoor area. You could also add in some more foliage to the area, like we did in the projects below. Lacquering the back fence will also make a difference to the feel of the pool area. We also are manufacturers of DIY glass pool fences, balustrades, mirrors and splashbacks - you can pick up fences in a range of styles (ie: semi frameless, frameless with or without mini posts,etc) from your local Bunnings. Nice pool, but a shame that your neighbours can see you through the fence, and therefore, you get no privacy. If you were wanting privacy of some kind, bamboo, tikka plant or even lovely conifers will look quite nice, also as a backdrop to your pool area. I would also place a beautiful urn or two strategically near the pool, to add character and colour. I would finally add an order of large stones for good effect.

Definitely a deck. Pools are usually under used, if not at all. They are usually expensive water features.

Definitely a deck - previously had a pool which was never used. I deliberately looked for homes that had no pool so I could build a deck!

Definately a large deck, extends the living area and is far less maintenance than a pool.

For myself a deck out weighs the cost and maintenance of a pool. If I win the lottery I would obviously have both.

We are having both by using a Vortex pool and spa. The pool is smaller but with a wave effect so you can swim against it for exercise.

Depends on where you live. A lap pool down a large deck gives the best of both worlds and provides a nice water feature for a deck. I need water to truly relax.
