Good quality shutters are incredibly expensive. I put a set of sheers and a set of block-out curtains up when we first got our place - the sheers provided a little bit of privacy during the day, the block-outs made it cozy at night and helped block the westerly sun hitting in the afternoons. The only thing you find with sheers is that you have to have to wash them - they go a little grey. Depending upon where you live, make sure that your curtains are an inch off the floor - we live on a main road with all the dirt and grime that comes with it and it just keeps your curtains looking that bit better longer.

The roller blind with sheer curtains will give a soft look and block out the light while you sleep. The floor to ceiling curtains probably won't look as nice due to your small space and the cornice so just above the window and a little wider than the window to make it look larger. The bed head either upholstered or timber needs to be light in colour so it doesn't dominate the room (the timber will be easier to clean) The design of the bedside tables depend on what you use them for but don't have too many items stored on them. The light also depends what you use it for (needs to be more direct if you use it to read). The addition of a large mirror will add the illusion of space and luxury. As you have a large bed in a smaller room just make sure the linen is not dominating the whole room. Good luck :)

Hi. There's a few things you're going to need to think about for your curtains. 1. Linen and cotton are natural fibres and will fade over time. Is this an issue for you? There can also be some 'movement' in these fabrics and depending on the heat and humidity, their finished length can change by a few millimetres to a couple of centimetres per day. So make sure you take this into consideration when choosing the length of the curtains. 2. Are the roller blinds fitted inside the window frames or outside/on top? If they're inside fit, that's great, you'll be able to put the curtains in front of the rollers. If not, you'll want to place the curtains behind the rollers, otherwise you'll have to have then sticking quite far out from the wall and it might not be a great look. 3. The pics you've supplied all have different headings. Work out what style of heading you like best, then work through your fabric options. 4. Make sure you purchase the right track/rod for the curtains (the heading style dictates the track/rod). I love the softness sheers add to a room and they look great over roller blinds. I think day/night roller blinds in the same colour as your sheers would look beautiful, this will give you privacy and give a lovely contrast to the curtains, relaxed Roman blinds are lovely also, by keeping them the same colour as your other curtains it will flow beautifully.
