Hello, We sell both so I have no reason to suggest one over the other. However, yes Roller blinds are very functional and right on trend for a modern decor. He is absolutely correct. Its not just the window furnishings that create softness to a room. You could even automate them for about the same cost as buying curtains. We do a lot of homes with double roller blinds right thought. However if you like curtains there is nor reason you shouldn't have them. Its your home and you need to love been there. It really comes down to picking the right fabrics and pleat types to work with your look. Blinds are great in smaller spaces and can achieve a clean lined open look wheres curtains can soften a room and add warmth .. be ware that curtains can close a room in and make it appear smaller. It can also make furniture placement difficult. Might I suggest a mix? Sheer curtains hung from the ceiling with a roller blinds behind can look very sleek in apartments. You can have the best of both :) I would just suggest you don't go with anything too "fussy" keep the lines clean and don't go to full with your curtains. You don't want lots of fabric cluttering your room. Here's an apartment with automated rollers. Another with just rollers. Here's a space with a mix. still very modern. A child's room with a mix of rollers and Chain Drive Roman Blinds. Great for reducing daytime heat. Day time privacy and the roman Blinds is block out to help them sleep. Roman Blinds are great for kids rooms as the add softness, are practical and you can place furniture below the windows. Another example Hope this was at all helpful ;)

I agree with Mel N. It's a relatively closed space and I think with the frames and the light fitting, less is more. An obvious curtain rod would be a step too far I think - pleated curtains on a hidden track would be how I would go.

I note you have blinds already.We too have blinds and my light sensitive husband found the cracks of light down the sides woke him early. I stumbled over a place that sold ends of current fabrics at very reasonable costs so bought enough linen to match the wall colour and lined it with blockout lining.I made each curtain 90cm wide although once they are gathered on the 30cm long track they are full and generous looking. (so they only cover the edge of the blind) and have totally cured our light problem for well under NZ$100. We bought a metre of track and two fittings that allowed us to make two 30cm rails, using a hacksaw to cut it down. I too agree, match the wall colour so you have a good plain backdrop for duvets and accessories in the room. I'd be hesitant about a feature wall in a small room,may close the room in.

What sort of easement? You can plant on it but research first so you don't plant anything with aggressive roots. Our water utility used to have a list categorising plants which are safe, plants which should not be planted within x metres, etc. Check if there's anything like that available from your water utility or council. If the plan does not have indicative furniture placement for anything else I don't know why it would show a dining table. Solar HWS or solar panels? Plants as large as trees down the narrow space between your house and the boundary with your neighbours create potential problems with roots and with leaves in roof guttering for both of you. Double glazing is valuable, especially in your winters, but for summer you want to stop the sun from shining on the windows in the first place. It might not be the most chic solution but when we needed something temporary and economical we used the shadecloth screens from the hardware store.
