Kitchen splashback help & ideas pls

Hi,
We have put in a new kitchen against walls painted Antique white. Cabinets almost a similar colour. Stone bench top is white with grey tiny splotches. Height from benchtop to cupboards = 620mm. I dislike the look of Subway tiles. I am thinking of using a similar white colour splashback that does not overpower our lovely benchtop. Some white tiles make cabinets look slight yellow which is not good. I like the style of white splashback that appears to be like a flat panel? What is that pls?
I don't think it is a glass splashback?
Where can I get this material from please?

HI Lyn

Depends on where you live, but here in Auckland, Winstone Glass will give you a glass splashback in ANY Resene colour, which would mean you could get exactly what you want.

Personally I have a white kitchen with white speckled granite tops, and all walls white, so I went with a black glass splashback that has an ever so slight sparkle at night, doesn't sparkle in daytime. Looks stunning. You can get cheap pre made splashbacks at Mitre 10, Bunnings etc, but they don't use the glasskote technology, so you can see in behind them, whereas Winstones ones, you can have white and not see the wall at all.

Forget subways, really overdone & can look so cheap. The more grout you have the more cleaning you'll have to do. It collects grime ( known in the trade as 'grotty grout' ) & is hard to maintain. Go for glass, the possibilities are endless, from sophisticated plain to funky patterned. Easy care & long lasting. Personalise your space, it looks really fab, love all your drawers, so practical ! Would love to see the end result. Please post pics.

Hi Julie, just a few more ideas for you to consider, your splash back looks quite large/tall, perhaps Herring Bone grey marble look tiles, not Subway would suit your kitchen The Baltic Pine floorboards will yellow if not treated, can I suggest that you Lime them as in photos 1 & 3, this would look great with your kitchen cheers

Hi Heidi, your Kitchen looks very now. I hope I can help with your concern about having a "green tinge" to your glass splashbacks if you use a light colour. There is a glass on the market which has been developed as a Low Iron glass, which has perfect clarity and allows light colours to be used without being distorted. (One brand name is called Opti-Clear Glass ) We recently put Designer White splashbacks in at Auldana for a client, where we also used a very fine metalic first coat under the glass which looks great when it catches the light. If you like the lack of grout lines that Glass offers and like its easy clean benefits but are concerned about the gloss of glass and prefer something different; then there is another large format sheet product on the market that you may like to consider called Neolith (see : https://www.cdkstone.com.au/surfaces-neolith/ ) This material has some 42 styles / colours / patterns which comes in a range of matte, textures and gloss finishes which can help add character and interest. Like Neolith the makers of Quantum Quatz also make a large format Porcelain thin sheet in a range of colours and testures which we use for Splashbacks called QuantumSix+. Hope this information helps. This kitchen is similar in aesthetic to yours. It has white tiles, flat profile cupboards, and is finished and accessories added. Looks beautiful. I would not change your tiles. They look like they have an undulated finish. They will bounce the light around in the room and add even more interest to compliment your wonderful timber features. I would, as siriuskey said, sit on your hands. Wait until everything has been finished.

Yes glass would be nice but is a subtle contrast as there may be too much white. Subtle tiles also.

you could go for a glass splash back with a silver / pewter toned metallic paint .

you do need some colour in your accessories very is good with yellow or turquoise / teal.

I wouldnt dismiss subway tiles - grey ones can look very smart.

I'd go a white or light grey subway tile in straight or bijmat layout. Keep it simple and classic. Ideas of images attached.

If you really wish to stay with white I'd also consider a tile pattern with grey grout for contrast.

Powder coat pressed metal? Perhaps a dark grey to pick up the grey "splotches" in your stone?

To summarise the consensus above- texture is needed. You can get that from the tile itself or how it is laid (grout lines), or from another product like pressed metal.

gorgeous kitchen may i say! Id introduce some subtle colour. The grey subway tiles shown above looks great or the marble herringbone pattern also is a winner....for something a bit different have u considered Calacutta marble? It has a gorgeous grey/gold vein through it, and would work amazingly with your white benches and timber floors.
