The main difference between the two choices operationally are: Push catches on handle-less doors and drawers require pushing to open and pushing to close, whilst cupboards with handles (with soft close mechanism), you pull to open and nudge to close and they retract automatically. Push catches win the appearance prize, whilst I think handles with soft close on drawers and doors win the operational prize as they are a little easier to use. A few issues on both sides: Handles are better to grip on big/heavy drawers and doors than knobs. Don't choose handles that have a shaft set in than allows you to catch aprons or clothes on them. A push catch is particularly great for a bin drawer giving you two hands free to carry and dump the rubbish, however push catch drawers often inadvertently open when you lean against them such as near the sink. You also need to push it closed and you may have dirty hands leaving marks on the front of the door. Push catches on drawers need to be pushed in from the middle. People often say their push catches are faulty. It's because they have pushed the drawer in from one side. This causes one of the spring mechanisms (one on each side in the runner) to become disengaged. It is easy to fix by taking out the drawer and sliding in again. For overall appearance, the trend is to have handle-less doors on modern minimalist kitchens. Whatever you choose, don't get little knobs or grips like the one in the pic you posted. These are OK for less trafficked areas, but you will find them very annoyingly difficult to use in a kitchen!

Diane..you sound so much like me...even down to the .."it doesn't have a style yet"...I have a similar wardrobe and was thinking the exact same thing on the weekend? ie. what can I do to it to not have a dark timber wardrobe in my room...although mine got wet when i moved it and now some of the veneer is peeling off, so it really needs help....I had only considered wallpaper or painting (after veneer taken off altogether which may wreck it)....i will be interested in seeing what you do with it... Maybe the fact that you room doesn't have a style yet, means that you should do something to the wardrobe that lends itself to a classic style or is a fairly blank canvas, so that you can add the style later with art and bedspreads, bedside lamps etc....(I have no design sense at all, but just thought it may be a way to do something now and not have to decide on a particular style yet)

We agree, a rug could help define and delineate the different spaces! It looks like you may need some specific and quite large sizes - look for rugs that can be ordered in custom sizes to take the stress out of trying to make stock rugs fit! You have an absolutely amazing artwork on the wall there - perhaps use these blues and golden tones as inspiration? Blues would looks great with the wooden cupboards and accents. Hi, suggestions - you could add panelling to make then look like french/ hamptons style mirror. you could install some ikea curtains and use as a back drop (block colour at back, sheer at front , must be very long.) . You could install barn style hinged doors. You could make it open shelving. You could remove altogether. You could add a nice wallpaper print to the doors, such as hamptons style blue and white or gold geometric and white. and match these colours to your cushions. I would only wall paper opposite wall if you keep the mirror. add a nice tall lamp to make the room bright and inviting and a throw on the couch. replace wall art. maybe paint the wall agreeable grey, reverve pewter or white. goodluck :-)
